Jackson explained his situation in the car as I zoned out in the front seat of the car. Griffin was driving, and Jordan, Jackson, and Miranda were in the back. TK manned the large gun in the back of the truck, while listening to Jackson through the little window in the back of the truck. I was so done with everything. The bombs would go off tomorrow, destroying my entire life as I know it. Thankfully, I wouldn't have to deal with the stress of that anymore. We would make it a day early, and everything would be a hell of a lot easier. I began to think about the disaster as Jackson rambled on about incentives and stuff. It had obviously been going on for a long time, right under our noses. The fall of Geegle. That had been an attack by the strangers. I was certain of it. All of the strange things that had been happening recently was because of the strangers. It was the only thing that logically made sense.

"Jack?" Someone asked in a distant universe.

"ITS BEEN HERE THIS WHOLE TIME!" I yelled, coming back to reality.

"What?" Miranda asked, grabbing my shoulder. "What are you talking about?"

"It's been among us this entire time. The Geegle assault, all of it! It was the strangers! It was always the strangers. They were among us before this even started!"

"You really think so?" Griffin asked, not taking his eyes off the road.

"Yeah." I said, wiping my now sweaty forehead. "Where are we?"

"Coming up on a roadblock set up by the military that leads to the bridge for Union Island." Griffin said.

I looked ahead. The roadblock was abandoned. Just as I had feared. The place wasn't real. I shot a dark look at Jackson, who looked as confused as I was.

"Wait..." Jordan said, looking ahead.

I followed her gaze down across the bridge. There was a mess of strangers. Hundreds of them, lining the bridge. Meanwhile, on the other side, people in green clothes and guns ran up and down a barricade shooting at the large horde. The military.

"Lets go! Get out of the car!" I yelled, as Griffin slammed on the brakes."

"Why can't we drive up there?" Miranda asked, as we all hopped out of the truck.

"The roadblock would flip the car." I said, pointing to the two foot high cement wall blocking the car from the bridge."

"But there's strangers!" She whined, as TK threw Griffin a shotgun.

"But there's strangers!" Jordan mimicked. "There's been strangers for the past 19 days!" She shouted, angrily. "I don't know about you, but I'm pretty done!"

Miranda shrunk back.

"TK, hand me that SMG." I said, and he passed me one.

Jordan took the machete from Dabini, and waved it in the air. Miranda took the other SMG, and TK retained his shovel,

"Do you really think we can face all those strangers with that shovel with us?" I asked.

"Yeah." TK said, grinning.

I shook my head, and gave him back the gun. I drew my sword. It would be good enough.

"You STILL have that?" Jackson gawked.

"Don't expect to get it back." I said.

"You work it better than me anyway." He said, shaking his head.

The snarls began as a couple strangers picked up our scent.

"Lets move." I said, as we began our run across the bridge.
