The Past Can Never Be Hidden

The Wedding

We drive into a beautiful park. There's a white gazebo and Amber comes running up to Onyx's mother. "Taylor I'm so nervous!" she yells. She's wearing a white dress. The top is like a corset, with black lacing it up the back. The skirt is covered in black stitching, with the words "Forever and Always" on the bottom. Our parents go off, calming Amber down and getting her ready. They walk into a garden with huge hedges and roses. Ginger comes out and asks where Amber and Onyx's mother are.

"They went into the garden together." Hunter says.

"Yeah they went into there with Aunt Amber." Onyx says. She runs off yelling for Amber to say there and Onyx's mom to come out.

"Ginger, who's that?" I ask pointing at the girl in a tux.

"That's Mariah." she says simply smiling. "You know, my friend Mariah."

"Uhm... Yeah. I know Mariah." I say smiling. I have no clue who the fuck that is...

"Okay. Well go find Amber for me would you? She's probably with Tay. We've only got a few more minutes. She needs to get the hell up there." She tells me and runs away. I walk into the garden, knowing where Taylor is. She's most likely under the tree with white flowers in the middle of the garden. I walk there and see her holding Amber, and Amber crying, makeup running down her cheeks. I look at her and mouth "What the fuck?" and she mouths "Tyler." Tyler.... Tyler is Amber's ex. Why the hell is he here? Taylor just shakes her head. Tyler comes around the corner, looking just like he did in 10th grade. Black hair, hat. He holds Amber as she stops crying and Taylor runs over to me.

"She said no. Wedding's off. She wont budge. She's going home with Tyler. I don't know how to tell Ginger." she explains quickly.

"What the fuck..." I say trailing off.

"Im gonna go tell Ginger. You go... check on the kids. That's what you need to do." She tells me. I hug her and tell her I love her, and then run off to find all the kids. I see them talking to two girls, their arms around each other's waists.

"Hey who you talking to?" I ask them.

"Mariah and Alyx. They said you know them from highschool." Rose says. Not her. Not her. She fucking wrecked Taylor. No. Things are getting better for everyone. Taylor beat her depression. No.

"Remember me?" Alyx says. She still has very short, spikey hair. Mariah has short, straight scene hair. Why didn't I realize it was them?

"Y-yeah. I remember. Of course I do. I'll be right back." I say and run to find Taylor. Special surprise my ass Ginger. I run up to Taylor, Ginger crying.

"Hey honey, don't worry about it. everything will be fine. Just give her some time. She's stressed and overwhelmed. By tomorrow, she might have things figured out." Taylor tells her. Ginger sobs out some words I don't understand but Taylor does perfectly well. "Of course. We can all stay at Heather's tonight. I wont leave you alone."

"Im gonna go to the bathroom. I'll fix my makeup. Then I've gotta go talk to Mariah. She'll tell everyone to go home...." Ginger trails off and walks to the bathroom after giving Taylor a hug. I look at Taylor.

"What?" she asks, seeing my expression.

"Uhm... I don't know how to tell you this.... " I say trying to avoid it.

"Just fucking tell me." she says

"Alyx is here. Alyx Alyx." I say and look down. She doesn't say anything for a minute.

"Hey... Remember me? I knew I'd find you around here somewhere." Alyx walks up to us, with Mariah, saying.

"Yeah. Of course I remember..." Taylor says looking down.

"Wanna watch up? Just us? Im sure Mariah and Heather wouldn't mind talking for just a few minutes." Alyx says. I look at Taylor trying to read her, but I know she's locked any and all emotions away.

"Yeah I guess. We have A LOT to talk about, don't we?" Taylor says looking at her. They walk away talking and I look at Mariah.

"So... your still with her?" I say

"Yeah. Ever since she moved to Colorado with me. What about you with Taylor? I see you have kids.... so who are you guys with?" Mariah asks.

"Well, I was with a guy. But I moved back from the UK to be with Taylor when her depression came back." I say.

"Ah. and Taylor? Who's she with?"

"Well... she was with Eli. But he was being an asshole. So she left him.... and then the depression took over. but now its just all of us." I tell her.

"Eli from 8th grade?....You with her yet?" She asks.

"Does that concern you?" I tell her.

"I was just wondering..."

"Yeah. Well you should go find Ginger. She's around the bathroom somewhere. Im going to find Taylor." I walk away and feel my heart rip open. I haven't felt this in so long... I hate it. I walk through the garden, passing by people I barely know. Ginger's mother, Fran, sits at a table in the garden, like the old lady in Alice in Wonderland. She tries talking to everyone she goes by. I see Taylor, under her tree, alone. "Where'd Alyx go?" I ask her.

"She left. She's staying in a hotel in Rutland. She says she still loves me Heather..." I sit silently staring at her. She really isn't saying this.

"Well... Do you still love her?" I ask, scared of the answer.

"Well... Yes. I do. I still love Zach and Eli. And Ginger. I never stop loving someone Heather. NEVER."

"Are you gonna go back to her?" I look her in the eyes, hoping she'll tell me a full answer.

"No.. I don't think I could do that again. She explained the whole not answering me ever again thing. Never talking to me again since she moved thing. But I cant do this again...." she trails off, getting lost in her mind. "And then there's Ginger. I have to help her too. I cant leave her. And she's not leaving until she gets me back apparently." She says.

"Lets find Ginger, the kids and go home. We can get unbelievably drunk and figure it all out." I suggest.

"Yeah. That sounds like a good idea." She tells me and we walk to find the kids.
