Chapter 5
"A party?" Tyler repeated, raising his eye brows at me. I nodded furiously. "I don't know," He sighed, "I thought I was just coming over to study."
I huffed, "I know but I thought we could go after we study. I think it'll be fun!" I encouraged him. "Plus, I need someone to go with."
He bit his bottom lip intently. "Just ask Alex."
"I-I haven't really been talking to him lately," I stuttered, wrapping my arms around my chest. Alex hasn't tried to contact me in the past two days and I haven't tried talking to him. He hasn't been to school either. I'd like to say I'm worried but I'm sure he's with Payton.
"Why? I thought you guys really had a thing for each other," Tyler questioned, pushing open the door that lead outside. He moved to the side, letting me out before him. I flashed a quick, thankful smile and walked outside.
"I thought that too," I sighed. "He's been hanging out with his ex-girlfriend a lot and he hasn't been coming to school. Every time I text him, he says he's with her and can't talk."
"That's trouble," Tyler muttered, readjusting the backpack straps on his shoulders.
"Yeah," I spoke, "I'm just so confused. A month ago, he acted like I was the only female that lived on this planet. He just made it seem like his feelings for me were real. I don't know anymore."
Tyler stayed silent. I looked over at him and he was looking down at his feet, sucking in his cheeks. I laughed. "What?" He asked, looking up.
"Sorry for dumping all of this on you. I feel like I can trust you, I guess," I flashed him a quick smile.
"Well, good cause you can," He returned the smile, pushing me shoulder lightly. The rest of our journey to the car consisted of average conversation. "Sure you don't mind giving me a ride?" Tyler asked, reaching his hand cautiously towards the door.
"Of course I don't. You're coming over anyways, stupid," I laughed, opening the driver's door and slipping into the car. Seconds later, Tyler was buckled and ready to go.
"Nice car," He said, breaking the silence as I drove endlessly down the road.
"Thanks," I smiled. "So, tell me more about yourself."
"I don't know. Uh, you already know my parent's are divorced. I have a girlfriend back home." His face flushed a bright shade of pink.
I smiled, "Oh, and what's her name?"
He chuckled, "Tracy. I've been dating her since sixth grade. I-I love her." I giggled and he shot me a loving but threatening glare. "And uh, I dance. That's about it."
"Well, Tracy sounds very nice. She should come up here and hang out with us sometime!" I exclaimed.
"She'd love that," He smiled, looking out the window.
"Are you almost ready?" Tyler whined from my bedroom. I unwrapped my final strand of hair from my curling iron and set the hair tool down."Calm down. I'm almost done!" I shouted. I leaned towards the mirror, checking my makeup one last time. I opened the bathroom door, stepping into my bedroom. Tyler was flopped down on the bed on his back, holding his phone above him, texting. "I'm ready," I stated. He sat up, looking me up and down.
"Well, that shouldn't taken you an hour!" He shouted. I raised an eye brow at him, setting one hand on my hip. "But you look pretty," He finished, flashing me a cheesy grin.
"Thank you," I rolled my eyes at him. He laughed, sitting up from my bed and walking by my side as we made our way downstairs. "Mom! I'm going to the party!" I shouted into the house.
