Chapter 1
"Ali, Alex's here! Get down here!" I shot my head up, opening my eyes quickly. For a minute, I didn't remember where I was. Damn, this was going to take some getting used to. When you move out of the house you've lived in your whole life, it's weird waking up in the morning.
I jumped out of bed and headed for my bathroom. My mom and I moved out and Jacob lives with my dad. The divorce has been hard. I've felt more and more distanced from my so called family. "Coming!" I shouted, turning off my straightener.
"Ali, are you naked? Can I come in?" Alex asked from behind the bathroom door. I laughed, "No, you can come in." The door creaked open and Alex stuck his head in before fully entering.
"Are you excited for school?" He asked, standing by side and looking in the mirror. Yes, winter break had ended and school was resuming once again for me.
"What do you think?" I snapped back at him.
"C'mon, babe. It's gonna be fine," Alex assured me, slithering his arm around my waist and pecking my cheek lightly. He rested his head on my shoulder and spoke again, "I love you."
I giggled, "Love you too. Now, get out. I have to change." I turned him around by his shoulder and started pushing him towards the door.
"Awh, c'mon! Can't I stay!?" He shouted, flashing me a small smirk before I got him out the door and locked it. My cheeks flushed a light shade of pink as I walked back in front of the mirror.
"In your dreams, Alexander. Now go get something to eat," I yelled. I heard him sigh loudly and leave the room. I brought my fingertips to my cheek and ran them across my skin where Alex had previously kissed me. Images of Austin flashed in my mind until I removed my fingers. I missed him. A lot. He never tried to call me or message me or come see me. I guess what he said was true and I should just get over him. Yeah, getting over him has been kind of hard for me.
Oh, shut up, Ali. You have Alex now. Alex Constancio was my boyfriend now. Him and Payton broke up the day after Alex saved me and as you may have guessed, she hates me more than ever now.
After taking ten minutes to get ready, I grabbed my backpack and ran downstairs. "Ah, there you are," Alex yawned, getting up from the kitchen table and slinging his backpack on his back.
"Well, have a good day at school," My mom said, flashing us both a loving smile. I returned it and proceeded to walk out the front door with Alex by my side. I felt Alex's eyes on me as we walked towards his new car.
"What's wrong, gorgeous?" Alex asked. I turned to face him. He portrayed a look of pure concern.
What was wrong? I furrowed my eye brows, thinking of a response to his question. "I'm just tired," I responded meekly.
"You and I both know that's not true," Alex rolled his eyes, hopping in the driver's side of the car. I walked over to the passenger side and hopped in, taking a whiff of the new car smell.
