I closed my leather bound journal and sighed. Yes, I know I said "dear diary" but it's more masculine to call it a journal in other people's presence, I believe. I slid the almost bare book under my mattress and stood up, stretching silently, and began walking down the short flight of carpeted stairs.
"Yes mom?" I asked, whilst grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl on the granite countertop.
"Tyler, how would you feel about going to a special doctors, you know, for your problems?"
I stood still, my back facing her. "..what? No." I breathed. "Mom I'm fine."
"But Tyler dear, I worry about you. You're my baby and I want you to be safe."
"Mom, I am safe, and please, stop calling me your 'baby'. I'm not three anymore. I'm seventeen for gods sake."
She stood silent, and I could tell she had an upset-exhausted expression on her face, and I sighed. Turning the apple around in my hand, I closed my eyes and breathed slowly. "Mom. I'm okay, honestly. Please stop bringing them up. It's just a phase. It'll pass. I promise you. Stop worrying so much."
Even without turning around I could tell she was reluctant to put it to rest, but eventually she did agree to do so. I turned around and kissed her on the head. "Thank you. I have to go to school now. I'll see you later okay?" I said, walking toward the front door.
"Oh Tyler, you forgot these," she breathed, passing me a small plastic bottle with only a few contents remaining. I nodded and slipped the bottle into the front pocket of my jeans as I passed the threshold and left the house.

Approximately ten minutes later I arrived at the silver gates of my high school. It was more of a prison, really. Not much to do, surrounded by druggies, and everyone was always looking for a fight. I tried my best to avoid people. I slipped in through the crowds of people, seemingly going unnoticed, until I reached my locker. I took the bottle which I placed in my jeans, at the far Corner of my locker, hoping it wouldn't be seen. Taking out my text books for the first two periods, I shut the locker and turned the combination lock.
As usual, I walked face down, staying at the floor so I didn't have to make eye contact. Unfortunately this did mean I sometimes bumped into some rather... Unpleasant people.
Somehow, today, I managed to walk to period one without causing a scene, and  I was ten minutes early.
I waited in violent silence.
