The chilly eerie street was never in the list of exciting places for one to go and play with their friends. But the kid didn't bother to listen to what his brother and sister told him. What his friends said matter more than what the words of family would have meant.
Sneaking out the house when all his family members were taking their usual evening nap, the kid didn't forget to secure himself his favorite sweater to warm him from the cold evening breeze.
Managing to get out without getting caught by his family, the kid ran towards where his friends were. Greeted by smiles and happy giggles, the air was filled with excitement.
"Ready to explore that street?" One of them said and nods of excitement was the only reply. With high spirits and hearts filled to the brim with enthusiasm, the group made their way to the street they had been planning to go.
The strong winds that blew the leaves of the trees made it sound as if it was raining heavily. Huddling together, feeling cold and a bit scared, they made their way closer to that street.
Arriving when it's obviously so late in the evening, they were greeted with a surprise when a man greeted them with evident signs of joy.
"Hey kids, why are you here when it's getting really dark?"
"Oh, we were just walking around." One of them replied hesitantly seeing how the man was giving them a creepily scary smile.
"Where do you guys live at? I'll company you back home. It's dangerous for you guys to be wandering alone without an adult." The man said with an insisting, annoying tone making the kids huddle together.
"Guys, what are we going to do? He's going to be on our tail and like he's creepy."
"We planned this for a week. Do you guys really want to cancel this?"
"Let's just try another day. That dude is scaring the life out of me. He might look nice but I'm getting a bad vibe from him."
"Come on guys. Let's just do it."
"If you want, you can do it alone because most of us want to go back."
"But you can't possibly go back with that dude. Like are you guys for real?"
"We pretend to let him walk us home and when we get to our street, we make a run for our own houses. Make sure to have the keys ready."
"I hope this idea of yours is good enough."
"This is the only idea we have." With that reply, they only gulped with anxiety.
Turning back to the man who greeted them with a bright smile, they nodded in agreement to what he offered. Even if they were genius kids, kids are still kids. Bound to make mistakes and agreeing to him was the worst mistake, ever.
Making a move, the kids slowly headed back to their street and just behind them, the man followed them. With every turn back the kids made to get a sight of how far the man was behind them, he only give them a laughter filled smile.
Having taken small slow steps, it took them awhile to arrive back at their street. One of them immediately gave out the cue for them to run back to the safety of their houses.
But out of nowhere, men dressed in black managed to catch up to them and held them tight. Being held, they shouted but their screams quickly faded when they had their mouth covered. As kids, it's impossible to overcome the strength of adults and they lost all their energy trying to get out of the grasp of the men.
The man who followed them sent out hand signals to the men to take the kids and be at their designated positions. Having lined up in the middle of the street with only the street lights making it actually visible to see them, he smirked.
