Officer Tumble

A fire bomb or rather a bottle of spirit with a burning rag in it thudded against my shield and exploded at my feet luckily it was next to useless, the rioters were at the end of the street about forty...fifty meters away throwing rubble and fire bombs at us they inched closer every minute, the Arbites were preparing one of their water canons behind us and even more Arbites and fellow officers like us were loading baton rounds into shotguns just in case they got closer.
All i could hear was their shouting our shouting my ragged breathing and every now and then a rock against a shield nearby.
"Nice to know this curfew thing is working" shouted a officer next to me
"Ain't that the truth" shouted another in reply
Next came a rumble of engines from behind, my first thought was reinforcements but when the whoosh of the engines passed over us i realised it was aircraft, a Valkyrie drop ship flew over head its engines deafening us its multi laser opened fire into the crowd tearing up the rioters into a bloody mess, there was a lot of screaming and shouting but next came more Valkyrie's this time hovering in front of us the ramps opened and ropes hit the floor, out the back came soldiers Imperial Guardsmen they were unaffected by the noise of their aircraft they advanced towards the rioters who started to run back as the guardsmen fired.
Another Valkyrie came over and again ropes came out a unhelmed man wearing a green beret a winged skull with a black 1st on its forehead came towards our line of shields.
"Come on you apes we got a riot to disperse" he shouted the Arbites quickly followed behind the Guardsmen as they pushed through the bloody streets and over dead bodies.
Me and my fellow officers were caught out we didn't know what to do we just witnessed these guardsmen come out of no where and slaughter the civilians and not give a damn!
"Come on lads we better go" grumbled a more senior officer somewhere. We started to run after the guardsmen.

After a few minutes of running I realised that the guardsmen had trapped the rioters between two separate groups and were killing them without anywhere for them to run, i looked away so i couldn't see people i may have gone to school or worked with die but i could hear the las bolts and screams.
