Maddie's POV
"Thanks for the ride Holden." I said as I left his car.

"No problem." Holden smiled then drove away.

Once I got into the house I sat down on my couch and started to tear up. I picked up my phone and dialled Liv. "Hey Liv."

"Did you find him?" Liv asked.

"No.." I whined.

"Awe... Maddie." Liv paused. "You want me to come home? You and I can have a sister movie night? I'll buy you chocolate!"

I laughed a little bit. "No....I don't want you to miss out. But you could bring me chocolate..."

"Okay will do." Liv laughed. "See you later."

As soon as I hung up the phone I went into the kitchen to get a drink.

As I opened the fridge, I saw through the window a tree branch fall from the treehouse. I figure it was just because the tree was old.

I grabbed a water bottle and head out to the basketball court.

Outside was extremely dark, so I thought it wasn't the safest idea to play this late.

I was just about to open the door to head back in, when the outdoor lights turned on.

I turned around and there was Josh with a box of pizza in his hands.

My jaw dropped.

"Someone must have forgotten the details of our deal." Josh said with a smile on his face.

"What?" I wiped a couple tears of my cheeks.

Josh moved in close. "I said I would back off from you if Diggie came back...but I also said, you would realize what you missed out on." Josh winked.

"Josh I'm sorry."

Josh pulled me in for a hug. "No big deal Maddie, we're here now. That's all that matters."

I smiled.

"You hungry?" Josh said opening the pizza box.

"When am I not?" I laughed.

"I like you Maddie."

"I like you pizza." I said grabbing a slice.

Josh raised an eyebrow.

"I guess I like you too." I smiled.

Josh chuckled.

Tonight may not have turned out exactly how I wanted it to, but I wouldn't change anything about it. I guess the old saying is true, you have to stumble over a couple rocks before you find the diamond.
