             Chapter 13

              (Tattered Limbs)

Tieing his holster over his thin white t he took Candice by the hand and jolted through the door.

“Stay close.” Nathan whispered pinning her to the wall. She nodded breathless and watched as Nathan pulled out his gun. Quivering Candice pulled out her own little dagger she found under the bathroom sink cabinet. She gripped it tight with one hand while the other hand seem to disappear in Nathan’s. Many things went through her mind; one being that she didn’t want to part way from him. His skin should be touching hers at all times. It was a mutual feeling since Nathan’s gripped only tightened around her small wrist.

He turned to look at her; both fear and anger running across his face. He cupped her face in his hands ; while still holding the gun and pressed his lips hard against her trembling pair. It was a kiss unlike any other; the force and fierceness of it made Candice dazed and over whelmed. Neither of them wanted to pull away; her hands slipped up his back pushing her body closer while he pinned her to the wall. There was anger, passion, and fear in that single kiss. When he finally pulled away he stared into her astonished green eyes which had tear. They both knew they might not get out alive. They both wanted to stay in the protection of each others arms but that wasn’t a choice.

“I want you to run. When we get outside I want you to run and don’t look back.” he held up her hands to his lips and kissed them with force. “Do what I say Candice.” He knew she wouldn’t but it was worth a try. Her skin turned pale and she trembled in his arms but her eyes zeroed in on the door.

“I might have problems trusting people; but I will not run away from you Nathan. I don’t deserve this and neither do you.” she said pulling her hands away in anger.

“Don’t be mad; I don’t know what I’ll do if they hurt you.” he began to speak but she pulled him into a kiss.

“Shut up.” she was feeling brave. They both looked towards the door leading to the outside world and sighed.

“Stay close.” he said again and walked in front of her. He pointed his gun at the door and kicked it open. Candice peeked over his shoulder and held in a loud gasp. Her breath stilled for a second and her almost stopped. In front of them stood ten men each with heavy weaponry. She squeezed her eyes closed and prayed silently. Nathan looked back at her strapping his gun back into the holster.

“Candice?” he spoke. She didn’t want to listen to his voice; she didn’t mind dieing but listening to him made it harder. If she died right there and then she would never be able to sleep in his arms again, never be kissed so passionately, she would never have a man who cared about her the way Nathan did. What other man went out of his way to make her comfortable? When has a man ever made her feel like a woman or even remotely human? He brought out every emotion in her; and made her wild with desire . Nathan was the only man except Anthony, who had cared for her as a human being rather than just a piece of meat made to warm a bed. He cared; for worse or better Nathan cared. He had seen her cry, and scared and yet he kissed her as if she was the most beautiful woman in the world. He made her feel alive.

It all came to her too quick, and at the wrong time. It was worse than knowing that her body might be buried in bullets. She wanted it gone but the feeling the sudden rush of emotion stuck to her like strong roots. She was falling in love with him.
