Chapter 15

(Bonded Strangers)

They drove for miles with out rest. When they did decide to stop they parked around and hid

their car behind a bustling rose bush. Eliot was the first to step out the car and stretched out his hands

over his head. Nathan sat still in the car going through Eliot's phone; while Candice waited for Anthony to

step out so she could speak to Nathan. She wanted to tell him that she loved him. She couldn't hold it in.

It was too painful to sit so close to him. There was a limit to what she could say in front of both Anthony

and Eliot. Biting her lips Candice pulled out from under Anthony's heavy shoulder and gave him a warm

smile.

"How are you doing?" Anthony asked returning her smile with a soft grin.

His eyes were swollen from the lack of sleep. For the first time in her life she saw Anthony as a man. His

hair disheveled but still away from his face. There were bags of worry under his exhilarating caramel

brown eyes. He looked just like their father with his lean jaw and dark hair. Even the expression of

trouble on his face matched his. She lifted her hand and touched his face with tears threatening to fall

out.

"I'm fine now. Did you sleep at least for a few hours?" she asked. He shook his head and

looked over at Nathan who was still looking through Eliot's phone.

"Neither did he." He pointed out. Candice bit her lower lip and sighed.

"Anthony, do you mind if I speak with Nathan alone please?" she asked. He didn't move but

she could feel his shoulders stiffen.

"Please." Candice begged. Anthony nodded giving Nathan another hard look and left the car.

He caught up with Eliot and they began to plan out how they'll be making their entrance back home.

Back in the car Candice fidgeted in the back seat. She knew exactly what to say but wasn't at

all aware of how to say it. She could start off by letting him know how much she appreciated what he was

doing for her, that she was crazy for his t ouch, his sweet power hungry kisses, how she waited for him

to smile. Her heart would skip a beat and her knees would give in just like a foolish teen when she saw

him.

"Nathan" she began. His head was now leaning back. He made a noise as if signaling her

to go on. Candice was limited by her habit. She began to bite her lips and circled her thumbs. She was

going to mess this up.

"I wanted to tell you something really important. I don't really know how to say this; this is the

first time I've ever felt this way. Before you say anything just listen, and please what ever you do don't

laugh." She paused and took in a deep breath. "Nathan I can't shake the feeling that if I don't tell you how

much you mean to me, I will lose you forever. What I'm trying o say is that you mean a lot to me, if

something happened to you I wouldn't know how to live. Nathan I - I lov..." She then heard Nathan
