Chapter 6 (Untamed)

Candice tossed and turned uncomfortably in the oversized bed; which was unnaturally full of several satin pillows. She pushed one more pillow under her head and let the pineapple scent drift through her; it wasn’t unnatural for her to be wide awake at four in the morning but it was highly unlikely for her to be breathless even hours after a kiss.

Frustrated with her thought, Candice repeated every recipe card she came across in life. Her eyes started to flutter close around Caesar salad. She rested her head against the many plush pillows until her eyes were compelled with the days worry. Her legs became limp and she lost all feeling in her arms.

“Candice I have to go downstairs-” Nathan came in the room folding his sleeves up to his elbows. He stopped at the sight of a Candice snoring. Her mouth was half open while she mumbled between cat like snores. She tossed and Nathan feared he had disturbed her. She needed all the sleep she could get. Judging by Brad’s voice everything wouldn’t be falling back into place any time soon. He can’t promise her another night where she would be able to sleep so peacefully. Something twisted inside him leaving him moved but stiff. He sighed heavily like he did when ever clients start to climb up his nerves; but Candice was no client. Then why did he feel so nerve wrecked was beyond his understanding. All his life he learned to control women, understand them and point out their seducing methods. Candice made no attempt to seduce him but yet he felt vulnerable around her; as if a wild animal had been unleashed and it was painful for him to tame it. Maybe it was just that he couldn’t have her. Forbidden fruit . That still didn‘t give him authority to think so freely and with such lust about Candice. Frustrated he rubbed the back of his neck.

He left without another word and forced himself out of the suite. If he had to get things done he had to let go of the sexual tension building inside of him and the best way to get rid of a deadly sin like that was to visit Lady Laurin.

Candice gasped as she sat up from bed. She took in a sharp breath and looked around. Her eye lids felt heavy and so did her legs. She stretched out her arms in front of her making sure she still had them and gladly pushed them back behind her head as she fell back on to the bed. Her heart pounded against her chest. If she didn’t calm herself down soon she’ll start having palpitations and be found dead.

Through out the small hours she slept her mind only grasped that Anthony was going to die. She couldn’t wake up sooner-

Her heart raced out of  control and she felt nausea kick in. Anthony always teased her about her worrying about the smallest things. He even joked of how drastic her calming down steps were. Before it was over a forgotten recipe or not paying the bills on time; but now how can she relax when she didn’t even know where her brother was and in what condition? This was beyond all- .Her mind whirled around in circles and she grimaced as she felt sweat make a thin line down her back. How could she be hot in an air conditioned room? She wiped moisture from her forehead and stepped into the shower.

She let the water run through her as she applied soap on her aching legs. Once she’s done taking her time in the bathroom she would go to Nathan and demand to speak to Brad. Why should she be kept in the dark about Anthony? She wanted to know where he was and how he was doing. What if he didn’t take his inhaler with him? He could get an attack any time. Candice mumbled under her breath and quickly washed off the shampoo from her hair. She had to go see Nathan now.
