                                                               Familiar Introduction (Part2)

Candice’s head jerked to one side as the carhalted infront of a red brick tower. The night had dwelled giving them a mask to hide under. If the chills of coming back home weren’t enough the breeze picked leaving her jittery. She zipped up Anthony’s jacket and sighed as Nathan’s warm arms came around her.

“Still cold?” he asked, his voice rusty from sleep. Candice shook her head with a light smile and snuggled in closer into him. She was so glad he was there. At first when Elliot had decided to drop Candice to the safe house and they were deliberating who would go back, Candice had a heart attack. She had all but begged them to stay together.

“Elliot and Anthony will take you in; I am meeting Brad out here to discuss some things.” he said to the three of them. He watched Candice frown but only for a moment. The etched lines of sadness were replaced with a gleam of curiosity. He began to turn away from them and head behind the tower, except Candice grabbed onto his sleeves.

“Candice do as I say please.” he said closing his eyes in frustration. He couldn’t let anything happen to her, not again. They had survived; where death was only a hairline distance away.

“Why do you need to speak to him all alone? You’ll be safer up with us. Brad can come inside.” Candice whispered watching as Elliot and Anthony stood by the lit entrance.

“It’s complicated Candice. Brad won’t go in there and I need to speak to him in private.”

“It seems you don’t want to tell me.” she said pouting. Nathan turned to face her fully. His body was touching hers and his hands came around her waist pulling her in closer to his chest. She tightened her lips so a moan of both frustration and longing doesn’t escape.

“It’s because I don’t.” he grinned kissing her hard on the lips. When he let go she stumbled back, dazed. He gave her another mind boggling grin and motioned Elliot to take her away. Candice realized what he did there. He distracted her. She shot him a fierce glance as Elliot led her inside. Nathan chuckled, surprised that even in their situation he could find humor in something. He sighed in relief as Candice disappeared behind the large wooden door; and turned towards the parked car behind the tower. Brad got out a manila folder in his hand and a spooked look.

Candice tapped her foot impatiently as the elevator moved past the sixth floor. It felt as if they were in that death trap for hours. It was a bit rusty, and every time it moved up a floor it felt as if an Earthquake had happened. As the doors slid open with a ting, Candice rushed out leaving and amused Elliot to watch after her. Anthony clasped his hands around Candice’s and followed Elliot to another hallway. The floor was fully carpeted in red and the doors, unlike the elevators were fully crafted and polished to the corners.

“This is not what I expected.” Candice said out loud. Elliot nodded looking back at her with a grin.

“Nathan likes spend his times here so he polished up this floor a bit.” Elliot turned back around leaving questions in her mind.

“He spent most his time here? Why?” Candice couldn’t wonder why Nathan who had such a spacious and high tech loft would want to spend his time in this tower? The air reeked of smoke. The lights were bright and pretty but to ostentatious for Nathan’s taste.

“I can’t see why.” she whispered to herself. No one heard her but she decided to keep her comments to herself. She shouldn’t be quick to judge.
