Madison

Today is the appointment for the therapist and I think I'll end up going just to see how things are and what could possibly happen.

Harry texted me.
Are you even coming? If so, you're late.

I replied back.
Be there soon.

Once I parked, I ran into the building, checking in and then went into the office where Harry was already waiting.

"Hi, sorry I'm late. Traffic." I said and sat down next to Harry.

The counselor looked at me kind of annoyed. She seems to be around my age, has blonde hair and blue eyes, she's tall and thin.

She smiled. "Should we begin?"

We nodded.

"First I need you both to fill this out," she said handing each of us a paper. "Please write your information listed."

She gave us a pen and we did as she said. We then returned the paper to her and she filed it into a drawer.

"Let's start by introducing each other. My name is Karen and I will be your therapist."

"Nice to meet you Karen, I'm Harry and this is my wife, Madison."

When he said that, I wanted to blow up, but kept calm to make a big deal on the first day.

"Nice to meet you both as well." Karen smiled.

I smiled back. I already feel like I won't stand her.

"It seems like you both know and have thought a bunch about what you would like to talk about here. If you don't mind, I'm going to ask a couple of questions and write your answers down so that I can keep that fresh in mind. Feel free to interrupt me or lead the conversation to which ever way you'd feel like it. Now, let's begin." She said, looking at both of us.

We both looked at her waiting to start.

"What brings you here?" Karen asked.

I looked at her kind of shocked. "Shouldn't you know why? When he booked this appointment he would've said why." I rolled my eyes. "Marriage counseling. Our relationship isn't working out, that's why."

Karen looked at me and laughed. "Woah there."

"Don't think I didn't notice you checking out my husband." I smiled sarcastically.

Harry turned and looked at me surprised.

Karen gave me a look and continued the therapy session. "The reason you came is for your divorce, I know. Now, let me continue, please."

"Go ahead," I said waiting for her next question.

"What issues are you facing?" She asked. "Is it about her actions? Attitude? Or about yourself?" She said directing the question to Harry.

Harry looked at her. "It's mainly both of us. I just feel like we both need to make a change, we-"

"Do you even know what you're doing?" I interrupted.

"Excuse me, I don't think he's done speaking." Karen said writing some notes down.

"I think we're done for today." I said getting up.

"Madison, you can't just do that.." Harry said.

"Clearly, I can." I smiled and walked out. "Go ahead, finish it without me if you'd like. This is not going to work out for us." I said and walked out of the office.

"Madison!" Harry yelled and pulled me back. "What the hell was that about?"

"Do not touch me." I said pushing him away. "Obviously this isn't going to work out the way you want it to."

"Well you can't just give up the first day." He said.

"Well that Karen girl isn't gonna make it work for us. If you wanna continue, look for a different counselor." I said.

I might sound jealous about it, and I am kind of jealous but why should I be?

"Are you really jealous?" He asked me.

I rolled my eyes and walked in the elevator. "Get over yourself."

He followed me in and pressed the button to go down. "You seem jealous if you tell me."

"Well, I'm not. I just don't like how she was looking at me." I honestly said.

He looked at me. "If you really want that, we can switch counselors then. If that's even an option."

"We'll make it one." I said and walked out the elevator. "See you... in a couple weeks?"

He nodded and looked at me for a while. "I still love you Madison."

I looked at him not saying a word, turned around and walked out the front doors, towards my car. I got in my car and drove home.
