Chapter 16

Joy POV

Fabian, Jerome, Alfie, Willow, Amber, KT, and I were sitting around the living room when Nina walked in with an envelope and a wad of cash in her hand.

"Where's Eddie? He needs to be here too," Nina spoke quickly.

"I'll go get him and Patricia," I said walking off to Eddie and Fabian's room. I knocked on the door softly before opening it. I smiled as I walked in. Eddie was asleep with an arm protectively around Patricia's waist as she held her phone in her hand as she slept. "Wake up!" I grabbed a pillow and threw it at them as they both groaned.

"What?" Eddie hissed.

"Nina said come on," I told him, trotting out of the room. I plopped on the couch not long before Eddie and Patricia came in.

"What's going on?" Eddie questioned.

"Here's your pay," Nina said, handing him a stack of cash. Eddie took it from her hands before counting it carefully. He gave a satisfied nod before leaning on the back of the couch behind Patricia. "Then we have a letter from Mr. Felix." KT and Eddie stiffened as we leaned in interest.

"Read it," KT demanded.

"Ok, um...

Dear Eddie Miller, Nina Martin, and KT Rush,

Eric Sweet and I have come to agree that a war is beginning. So we shall have you three directing attacks and our next steps. We are also expecting you to keep an eye on the Supernaturals and get as much information as possible about the war. We need as many hunters as we can so once we get an estimated date then we shall send over the hunters here in the US. I have one other thing to tell you and I know you three well enough to know you won't be happy about it. Since we need as many hunters as possible, Eric Sweet and I would like you three to start training the new recruits there. Stay safe and keep up the good work! -Mr. Felix

"What!" Eddie and KT exclaimed as they sprinted over to Nina and read over her shoulder.

"I'm not teaching those stubborn, untrained, conceited newbies!" Eddie screamed, throwing his hands in the air.

"What's wrong?" I asked as Nina gave a frustrated sigh.

"We have to train the new hunters. No training, usually kids and just stubborn and undisciplined little brats," Nina muttered angrily.

"Will you be gone more often?" Fabian questioned as Nina turned to him.

"Maybe but we start in a week," she answered. He nodded as she gave a weak smile.

"Are you guys tired? I mean you've had a rough day," I spoke worriedly.

"We're fine, we have to plan a schedule and begin tactics and look for Frobisher's old books and journals," Nina yawned.

"Nins, it's only one night. You can start again after school tomorrow then you have all weekend," Amber spoke softly. She shook her head stubbornly as Fabian wrapped an arm around her shoulders and led her upstairs. Patricia's fingers went to her neck as she sighed.

"How do you hide the bruises from someone trying to strangle you?" she questioned Eddie as he chuckled.

"It's sad that I know how to use makeup," Eddie muttered as he reached for her hand. "Come on." He dragged her upstairs as everyone else ventured off to their rooms.

"I'm sorry," Jerome apologized, shifting his weight on his feet.

"You don't need to apologize to me," I laughed. He shook his head, making his mop of hair fall in front of his eyes.

"I should have thought of the repercussions. I put everyone in this house in danger, I put you in danger. They told me that would happen but I'm so used to my mischievous ways that I didn't even think and I'm sorry for that," he spoke softly. I wrapped my arms around his torso as I buried my face in his chest.

"It's ok."

Amber POV

I woke up to notice neither KT nor Nina were in their beds. Once processing the thought, I shot out of bed and raced downstairs. The rest of the house was talking and laughing at the dining room table but the hunting trio wasn't there.

"Guys, have you seen Nina and KT? They're not in our room or anywhere upstairs," I said as everyone looked at me.

"No but now that I think about it, Eddie wasn't in bed when I woke up," Fabian spoke up.

"You don't think they got a call, right?" Willow asked worriedly.

"I don't want to find out, let's go find them," Patricia announced as she got up. We all followed her lead as Trudy walked into the room.

"Where are you lot going? You need to go to school. Amber go get ready," Trudy ordered as we all groaned.

I scurried down the stairs, looking a mess.

"Come on, we have to find them," I spoke quickly, slinging my bag over my shoulder. We dashed to school and passed by the halls in a breeze we approached our classroom and opened the door in a hurry. We sighed in relief at the sight ahead of us. Nina was sitting on the table, swinging her legs happily back and forth, while Eddie was sitting in a chair with his feet propped up on the table beside Nina. He was reading, what looked to be, a file folder; the creamed folder sat in his lap as he tapped the top of his pen against his lips. KT sat in a chair, listening to Nina.

"Thank goodness!" I exclaimed, entering the room with my other housemates. Eddie looked up from his folder as KT and Nina turned around.

"We were wondering where you went off to," Willow smiled at them.

"Yea, we thought you got abducted by aliens," Alfie spoke as KT laughed.

"That was months ago," she told us as we shook our heads.

"We thought you got a hunt..."

"We were just worried. Maybe you got hurt." The room grew quiet as Eddie placed his feet back on the ground.

"You know what, here, take this. It beeps when our sensors go off, you'll always know when we have a hunt," Eddie said as he handed Fabian what looked to be a pager. Fabian smiled gratefully before stuffing it in his pocket.

Patricia POV

I sat in class by Joy as we stared dully at the board. Suddenly, four soft beeping sounds went off.

"Mr. Miller, Miss. Martin, and Miss. Rush, would you like to share what you received on your phones?" the teacher asked.

"Actually, there's a family emergency so we have to go," Eddie told her as the trio got up. Fabian tapped me on the shoulder, showing me the pager that shined red and said SENSOR ALERT in big, bold letters.
