Collins POV.
I dart over to Josh's side. He gives me a weak smile, causing me to cry harder. My father and security enters the room, but say or do nothing.
"Hows he doing?" I ask the doctor.
She looks at me for a while and then back at my father. "We found two bullets. One has hit the right rib and the other punctured his lungs and is slowly moving towards the heart...." she trails off.
"What happens if it hits the heart." I ask, hoping not for the answer.
She sighs and looks at me. "He'll die."
"Can't he have surgery!? There is some way you can stop this!" I scream looking a Josh's father, whose head is in him hands. He must have flown down here.
She looks down. "The surgery would... it would increase the mass of the bullet and further the damage."
"So your just going to let him die!"
"There is nothing else we can do, I'm-"
"What the hell do you mean there is nothing else you can do !" I say in disbelief.
She walks towards the exit. "I'm so sorry, we'll try out best."
"This can't-" Josh touches my hand. My eye widen. "Josh!. NO! Why! Josh, please you can't leave me."
His father stands up and walks towards the bed. Josh coughs and gives me another weak smile.
"Collins..." He coughs again. He's in pain. "I love you."
Tears stream down my face. He look at his dad. "Dad, love YOU too. I want...say congrats...I hope everything goes well... with Elizabeth."
His father ruffles his hair. Tears stream down his face. "I love you Josh."
Josh starts to cry also. He coughs again. He closes his eyes. 'Collins...I want you to know...That if it only took love...I would still be here... I love you." And with that he closed his eyes.
"Josh!" I shook him. His dad started to cry. "Josh! No! No! Josh" I shook him harder. "Josh! Wake up!"
The nurses rushed in. They try to restart Josh's heart by using a defibrillator.
"Charge to 200!" A doctor yells. She places the iron handles on Josh's chest. It sends a shock through his body. He doesn't wake. "Charge to 300!"
"Do something" I scream.
She looks at me. "Time of Death, 5:45 am." Her eyes are pained. "I'm sorry."
I stare at her in disbelief. "No! No! No!" I start to pounding on Josh's chest. I feel my father grab me by the shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Collins. He's gone." I turn to my father and cry in his arms as they pull Josh's body. I slowly rush over.
I stare at his dead body. He looks pale. Peaceful. Tears stream down my face. His eyes and mouth are closed. I kiss his cheek. All warmth is gone. He's cold and lifeless.
"I love you, Josh." I say as they wheel him away. Tears pouring.
1 hour later:
I sit in my hospital bed, staring at the wall. A doctor walks in. I look at him.
"It seems as if a bullet scraped your shoulder. You were in shock so you didn't have time to feel the pain. He moves closer "Also, we were'nt able to save the baby."
Baby?
My father looks at him, eyes wide. "Baby?" He then looks at me.
"Yes, it look that she was about 2 months into her pregnancy." My father says, nothing. But I know what he's thinking.
He gives me a small smile of sympathy. I don't say anything, but stare at that same stop on the wall. He looks at my dad. "I prescribe this anti-depressant for her." He rips a piece of paper from his pad and writes on it.
My father takes it. "Thank you.'
"Collins, the police will be in here shortly, for you to identify the shooter." the doctor says beaver leaving.
I'm quiet. I yearn for Josh. His soft touch. His smiles .His hugs. His kisses. His body. His kindness. His humor. I want him. But I will never have him. I'll sit in misery for the rest of my life.
First, I lost my mom. Then, I lost my bestfriend-my boyfriend. And now, a baby I didn't even know I had.
The End.
