" what ?!" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion . Did he possibly mean Nate's voice ? But how ??!
"I see you already have an idea in mind , Steph , and it is correct . I heard your new friend's voice and it brought back the memory . I didn't manage to take a good look at his face but I am quite positive that it is him. " He paused for a while before saying : " the reason I came to see you tonight is that I want to confirm what I'd just told you and meet this guy to thank him for saving my life . Would you please help me do that ?"
I don't know why I was having doubts about helping Jake do that , but I ignored them anyways .
" okay , but how can I do that ? " I asked .
" how about you invite him over , and then , amidst your converstaion , I can walk in and say hi , amd you know , one thing will lead to another " Jake said, casually.
" Dude , you do realize that you sound like you are plannimg to lure a girl or something , don't you ?" I said, jokingly .
Jake let out a laugh and gently pinched my arm . " aren't you a funny one " he said as he got up and patting the bed sheets .
" well , I guess that is it , then . I think you have had your share of bed time stories " Jacob pushed the door open and bid me goodnight .
" Jake , I am glad you are alive" I whispered .
" I know , Steph . I know " He smiled faintly before gently closing my bedroom door .
I stared at the ceiling for a while . Nate seems to be connected to me in a way that I can't grasp just yet and even though that was the case , just the idea of having to be close to him made me feel safe and sound .
" God , please , make this journey of mine an easy one , and I beg of you to keep what remains of my heart safe and settled . " I prayed before I closed my eyes and slipped into deep restless slumber .
