chapter 3: an unwelcomed visitor

breath was caught in my throat , my chest kept rising and falling in a rythmatic manner , and the world started spinning around me.

Maria saw him again!

He has always showed up in my dreams , with a toothy smirk that revealed a very sharp fang , his long black cape covered his face so I never saw what his face really looked like .

I have told Maria about him before , she was the only one who knew about him , and since then, he started hunting her dreams ,too.

maybe he has something to do with Maria's disapperance or maybe he was one of ... of them!!!

I gasped and got up to my feet scanning the room around me for my phone ,and when I found it , I heard a loud knock . well more likely to a bang on my house's door.

I shivered from head to toe as I dragged my numb bare feet on the marble floor until I reached the large brown wooden door .

seeing the identity of my visitor through the "magical eye" (as I used to call it when I was younger ) ,

I sighed with relief but then frowned .. it was him.. again.

I exhailed loudly while pouting my plump lips and opened the door to face a tanned young man in his early twenties .

a mess of dark brown hair rested on his head , pair of wide hazel eyes gleamed with happiness as soon as they fell on my identical hazel ones .

"Heeyyy there little girl!" he exclaimed mockingly as he shoved me aside and entered the living room as if this was his own house .

" first of all , I am NOT a little girl. secondof all , you are such a jerk .and third of all , take those dirty shoes off before I throw them along with you in the trash can . oh and "normal" people usually ask for permition before barging in someone's house "

I snapped as I folded my arms to my chest.

" hmm pms much , kiddo??" my older cousin smirked as he grabbed my juice and drank what was left of it .

"HEY!!! what's with you people and eating my food!!" I exclaimed throwing my arms in the air dramatically .

" that was yours??" Jacob asked innocently as he fluttered his dark lashes as if his life depended on it.

"uughhh! Jacob Martins why on earth are you here?" I asked as I stared at him while he made himself very or let me say TOO comfortable on my couch planting his legs on the glass coffee table.

" my dear aunt called me earlier saying that she is going to stay very late at school today because they couldn't find a replacement teacher for their indoor camping trip , so she asked me kindly if I can keep her baby girl company until your dad comes home "

Jacob explained as he grabbed the remote control and started flipping through the channels while placing his muscular arms behind his head.

I officially hate my mother!! she knew very well that we both couldn't stand being in the same room together let alone staying in the same house by ourselves !!

" okay , let me set things straight from now, you have no control on me , so don't start bossing me around , you hear me! " I had to say that since I knew that he will be playing this whole I-am-older-I-can-control-you game ,so I had to set some rules before he had things his way.

" aww sweet little Saya doesn't want mean old Jake to annoy her, does she?!" he pouted teasingly .

I couldn't stand him for another second so I grabbed my phone and launched towards my room.

I locked the door in case a certain someone decided to pay me an unwanted visit .

I ran my clear polished fingers through my hair and sighed , I needed to check if Maria was okay , I mean maybe she was just taken home , she had a bad case of indigestion for the last couple of months so she spent most of her days stuck in the bathroom and that could be it , no fuss , no guys with ack hoodied cloaks . right??

After thinking a few seconds , I opened the drawer of my wooden night stand , the wooden scent made my nerves calm a bit .

I grabbed a tiny tiffany coloured phonebook and flipped through its pages until I found Maria's house number .

I grabbed my phone and dialled it as fast as I could . on the fifth ring someone picked up .

"hello?who is it?" I heard a manly questionning voice on the other line

"umm..hello.. it's Saya Haitoushi .. I am Maria's friend , can I talk to her please ??"

I asked doubtfully as I couldn't recognize the voice on the other line.

"oh! umm Maria can't speak right now .. umm she..umm she's asleep!" the guy on the other end of the line strutted . he was appearantly lying to me.

"can you wake her up?? I really need to talk to her , I..."

before finishing my sentence ,I heard a female voice talking to the guy on the other line .

"who are you talking to Mark?... her friend?...which one?...OH MY let me talk to her!!!"

the lady's voice came closer and then I heard " HI Saya!! how are you dear?!!"

Maria's mother voice beamed with fake enthusiam.

"I am fine thank you Mrs.bishop , I was hoping I can talk to Maria..please?!" I said hesitently .

Maria's mother knew that her daughter had already told me her secret and she also knew about the guy with the hoodie .

"Saya honey?.. can you come over today??"

Mrs.Bishop's voice became serious suddenly like she was trying to tell me something important.

"I am sorrry aunty but my parents aren't here and I can't leave the house without their permition"

I said . sadly my parents were strict , so I couldn't leave the house without their approval..my life!!

"oh .. well.. I understand dear ..can you come tomorrow after school??" she asked obviously disappointed

"I sure can ! and I will !" I tried to cheer her up , tomorrow will be a saturday , which means the weekend is here !! and my parents wouldn't mind if I visited my friend's house!

"well.. okay then , I will see you tomorrow good.." I didn't allow ms Linda to finish her words before I cut her.

" is Maria okay? why can't I talk to her now? is she coming to school tomorrow??" I asked rapidly before she could hang up on me.

"I will explain everything tomorrow...dear" Mrs.Bishop stressed on her last word as if she was forced to say it .

I guess I will just have to wait until tomorrow.
