chapter 6 : one touch and you are already gone

After the very weird encounter with this Nate guy this morning ,my day started getting weirder and weirder.

For starters , I have just been called "maiden" three times today . two of them were by Nate and the latest one was on drama class when all of sudden I landed the role of the very sweet lady Horton who married a scarred sailor but still loved him for who he was. and stayed with her husband even though he had no self esteem whatsoever.

so yeah that was pretty much what was the whe maiden thing about.

Also, for the first time in my years of high school . I sat alone at lunch time .

Simony and Hayaku had been working on a physics project so that meant I won't be seeing them for a while.

Alex said that she didn't hang out with her old buddies in a while so she left with them and is probably going to hang with them for the rest of the next week , and finally Maria who didn't show up today either.

So I ended up being the lonely nerd who sits alone in the cafeteria.

I carried my lunch plate and dumped my butt on a near table and started munching on a slice of pizza when a plate landed right next to me and a smell of an attractive manly aftershave filled my nostrils .

the stranger slid right across me and gave me a wide idiotic grin.

I rolled my eyes .

"so now you want to share your lunch table with me?!" I said lifting one eyebrow in confusion.

I don't have any experince of dealing with the opposit sex (unless you consider Jake one because I really don't)

so I shifted uncomfortably in my chair and started fidgeting and looking like a moron if you know what I mean.

"relax will you! I am not going to eat you , even though I am starving " Nate said with a playful smirk .

" besides I already feel like I know you " he stated with confidence.

I felt blood rushing up to my cheeks and my jaw started twitching. since I don't blush that easily , a shy smile always finds its way up to my face when I recieve a compliment.

"So tell me miss Haitushi , do you always have lunch alone?" he asked teasingly.

"of course not!! it just happened that my friends are .. busy today!!" I blurted out rapidly .

ugh great now he thinks I am a creep with no friends .

wait a minute! why do I care what he thinks of me?!

I shook my head trying to get all those weird romance-related ideas out of my big skull.

I saw a soft smile spread across his pink lips .

" your face can expose what you are thinking so clearly almosr like a mirror of thoughts " he stated matter-of-factly.

"well don't worry , I believe you and I don't think you are a creep.

I just arrived here and I haven't met anyone besides you yet . and you looked kind enough to let me have lunch with you. I hope that it wasn't a rude thought of mine ."

Nate spoke softly that he made a pit form on the bottom of my stomach that I was afraid that I won't be able to digest my pizza properly today or any other day.

"I .. um I mean .. it's okay until you make friends. plus my friends are going to be busy for the rest of the week so I don't think I would mind company " I mouthed with a faint smile.

Nate and I spent the rest of lunch time in silence and after a while the bell rang.

"well , it was nice spending this time with you , now if you'll excuse me I have class to attend"

I said as I stood up and headed over to the door.

"wait !! what class do you have now? can I walk you there?? is there anything you want to know about me??" he said as he followed me and grabbed my wrist.

"oh no!" I thought to myself.

he wants to hang out even more!! I know myself .

if I spent more time looking at that handsome face of his , I will definietly fall for him and that is the last thing I want.

My poor heart had been broken once before by ... someone . and I can't go through the same thing again.

I yanked my hand out of his tight grip and said " Nate. I think you misunderstood. if I let you have lunch with me, I don't mean that I necisserly want to hang around you all of the time " .

I know I was being rude but I had to push him away before he even gets the chance to break my heart.

Nate looked hurt. " I .. I am sorry Saya , I didn't mean to rush things on you but I really need to talk to you .. and ... um.. uhh how am I supposed to say this...protect you" he said. concern shining in his eyes.

I looked at him confused. did he just say protect me?! " what are you talking about?? I don't even know you! and what are you going to protect me from??'" I asked as as his words stopped me from moving towards my maths class.

" listen , I can't explain every thing to you right here . so I will explain everything to you in the bus. okay?" Nate looked serious yet there was something in his eyes that held my gaze towards them.

after saying those words , Nate grabbed my hand and rested it between his own two and squeezed them gently making circurlar motions with his thumb.

and then walked away and disappeared in the sea of walking students.

I hurried towards the class still thinking about what he said to me , who was he ?and what is it that he wanted me to know?he was the only thing I can think of the whole lesson. his sea blue eyes.

his clear pale skin and his tall well-built frame. suddenly all my thoughts were pushed aside when I realised that something else had just happened.

I simply fell for this beautiful stranger!
