Okay, so this story was my attempt at trying to rewrite the story "Gone with The Wind" in the present time. Kinda like, how it would be if it happened today. It wasn't that bad of a story, but I lost interest very quickly, so...yeah. Anyways. Be sure to comment what you think.
Scarlet
“You got expelled?” I laugh. “What is this? The fifth time now?” Stuart and Brent laugh.
“Yeah...Shit happens. We just kindly suggested that the teacher pull up her blouse because some of us don't want to see that, and she freaks out on us.” Brent says, laughing with me.
“We were just trying to help her out. I mean, no guy wants to see a sixty year old woman's saggy breasts.” Stuart remarks with a smirk.
“I still can't believe you two got expelled again. What did your mom do?” I ask, curiously. The boys flash each other a big smile because I'm actually showing interest at the subject at hand.
“Oh, mom doesn't know yet. You see, our older brothers got kicked out too, because the principal had enough with the Tarletons. Our older brother is going to tell her tonight. Mom likes him the most, so, she'll take it better than if we told her, and by the time we get home, she'll be too busy with her new puppy that she wont even care anymore.” Brent says elbowing Stuart. “Good thing, huh?”
“Oh yes,” Stuarts says shaking his head. “Mom would murder us if it weren't for big bro.”
I zone out and stare at the clouds passing through. After a couple of minutes I tune back into the conversation, only to find out it's already changed to the subject every ones been talking about lately; War.
“You think we'll win?” Stuart asked cautiously. Brent snorted.
“Who really cares? It's a war, it's not some new COD game coming out. No one really cares. Wars are so last year.”
“Guys, lets just stop talking about it. It bores me.” I say calmly, trying to act as if I were paying attention the whole time.
Stuart and Brent look at each other, and Brent replies with a sad smile. “Sorry Hun, although it's not interesting to us, sometimes we still get caught up talking about it.”
“Whatever. It's fine. Let's just change the subject.” I mutter.
“Hmm, so, tell me, Scarlet, sweetheart, did you hear about Ashley? I heard he's been getting it on with his cousin. Incest at it's best.” Brent laughs at his twins remark.
“Hey, Stu, how did that chant go? The one about incest?” Stuart laughs.
“Incest is the best put your-” Stuart starts, as Brent joins in.
“Sister to the test!” They both say together, laughing.
I start to process what they just said. Ashley? My Ashley? Is having sex with his cousin? “Oh hell no!” I yell out loud accidentally.
Stuart and Brent look at each other. “What?” Stuart asks quietly, a hint of shame in his voice. “Do you have something against incest?”
Brent clears his throat. “Stu, so what if she does.” Brent gives Stuart a wary look. “Why would it matter to us?” Stuart shrugs nervously.
“Not the incest thing. Although it is gross in Ashley's case. I'm just upset that he's having sex with someone other than-” I stop myself before I admit just how important my Ashley is to me.
Stuart starts to laugh. “Oh, okay. Yeah, it is kinda gross in his case, but you know, in my-”
“Stuart! We forgot to tell Scarlet whom, exactly, Ashley is with.” Brent says changing the subject.
“Wait.” I say quickly. “I thought they were just banging each other. Are they dating?”
A look of relief flashes on both of their faces as they realize I wasn't trying to prevent them from changing the subject that Stuart was starting to inform me on. “Oh no, Sweetheart, he's more than just dating her.” Brent says waiting for Stuart to say the rest.
Stuart smiles. “They're engaged.”
“What?!” I yell angrily.
Stuart and Brent look at eachother. “What?” They both say in unison.
I look down. “Never mind. It's nothing. So, what's her name?”
“Its Melanie.” Stuart says slowly. “Are you okay Scarlet?”
I nod quickly.”Of course!” I flash them my best smile, and they both stare at me in awe. “Well, look at the time, I better be heading in. Good talking to you boys!” I say and run inside. I have to see if Dad knows anything about this. I pray its just one of those stupid rumors the twins tend to spread. I hope.
Stuart
“Stuart! Don't go telling people what we do to each other!” Brent yells running his hand through his dark black hair, and adjusting his black and white striped tie nervously. “Not all people do those kind of things to each other.”
“Sorry Bro!” I mutter shyly. “Sometimes I just get too caught up in the moment and I blurt out things.” I fiddle with a button on my trench coat. “It happens.”
Brent sighs. “I noticed.” He watches Scarlet's house for a moment, as if waiting for her to come back out at any second. “You'd at least think she'd invite us over for dinner, huh, Stu?”
I nod. “Yeah, although she seemed pretty upset. I mean, I know she was smiling in all, but she seemed to get edgy and nervous after awhile. Was is something we said?” I ask curiously.
Brent shakes his head. “I don't remember saying anything that would've upset Scarlet. Maybe she's pmsing or something. You never know these days.”
I laugh. “Yeah. Girls are strange...So, wanna head home?”
Brent looks at me as if I were crazy. “No. Mom's probably not simmered down by now. We have to wait a couple more hours. I really thought Scarlet was going to invite us to dinner. I was planning on her doing so, because by the time we were done eating, mom would be calmed down.”
“Shit.” I reply sighing. “Whose house can we just barge into and demand they give us dinner?”
Brent smiles. “I have someone in mind.”
