Very quickly, the Apink reference is deliberate. The song was stuck in my head! Gahhhh read!!

12.

Luhan had no idea what to do now. He knew it was her so what now? He found himself sitting down on the earth floor and shutting his eyes, just listening to her sing.

He felt bliss as he lay limp across the floor, listening to her sing her heart out. Never had he felt so much joy in music. The strength and detail in her voice alone was enough to have him fall in love with the rhythms and harmonies she produced.

He would take care of her. He was sure of it.

Luhan felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and his eyes slammed open. His ringtone blared out of the phone and forest echoed with the sound of Apink's Nonono.

Luhan was quick to shove the phone between his thighs and tighten so the noise would be quietness but it didn't work. She had stopped singing.

"Who's there?!" Xia-Mei's familiar voice called out towards him.

Luhan had to make a quick decision. Run or get caught.

He chose to run and run he did. He ran until he was past the clearing, past her home and safely out of the forest. It was then that he pulled his phone out and threw millions of curse words at it.

He may as well see what was so important that couldn't wait.. Luhan flipped the phone open to see a text message from..Kris's mother?

Why was she texting him?

Luhan took a second to scratch his head and stare at the phone, puzzled.

There was an attachment and Luhan was eager now as he opened the text and opened the attachment.

A high definition photograph of Kris and Reum laying in what looked like a closest stared back at Luhan. Reum was perched on his chest while Kris had his arm around her.

FINALLY! Luhan sighed shaking his head. Those two were hopeless.

-

Xia-Mei took longer than necessary convincing herself that what she heard was a figment of her own imagination. No-one knew about te woods or her home... Expect Luhan.

Luhan! It was him! He was here! And it was only confirmed further when Xia-Mei found herself looking at a wrapped box on her doorstep.

"Happy Birthday!" The card along with the box read.

Xia-Mei fought back a smile as she took the box in her hands and with it in her arms walked into her home.

She was afraid Luhan had told someone. She was so afraid and this simple act of thoughtfulness made her damn near the happiest she had ever been.

Maybe Luhan was her friend.

-

Luhan was eager that morning when the sun finally rose. He sped to school along with his friends and was quick to scan the school gates for any sign of her. Luhan was oddly patient as he entered the gates and made his way to class. She'd be there, he was sure of it.

When Luhan got to class it was a little too early. He and a few other students were the only ones in the room. His friends had ditched him at the gate, saying something about being punctual making them look uncool. Luhan only shrugged and happily made his own way to class.

He was seated and his head was in his arms as he eagerly watched the students enter the class one by one. He was however, searching for one person.

And she stumbled in and walked with her head tilted to her seat. Luhan was mesmerised by her very presence and almost forgot to sweep his eyes down the length of her figure to spy on the shoes she had worn.

There, on her tiny feet were the shoes he had purchased days before.

The largest grin ever spread across Luhans face. He had been so afraid all day. Afraid she'd reject him. Afraid shed be alone.

Luhan tried to catch her eye as the rest of the class now tumbled in and took their seats.

Like a mirage, the scene for the rest of the day played out in Luhans head. He'd visit her after school. He'd bring a cake and candles and he'd celebrate her birthday with her.

And because noone else would, he would.

-

Sitting in class, Xia-Mei felt her head spin. It was starting again! Her forehead began feeling sweaty and the unmistakable lightheadedness she felt always came crashing down on her. The vision in her eye began to blur and a loud ringing began sounding in her ears. It had never been this bad! She gripped her head and bit her tongue to stop herself from scream in pain.

The last thing she saw before she fell out of her chair was the emotionless faces of the students around her.

No-one cared.
