That morning I'm so nervous about the full moon I can hardly eat breakfast. I just pick and prodd at the pancakes that lay on my plate as they seem to slowly absorb the syrup. Now pancakes aren't very interesting, but when all you want to do is try and not think about something they can become extremely engrossing.
"Good morning," I hear Reigna greet me, but I don't look up.
"I fell asleep in my office so I'm sorry if you missed me." She continued, however I still don't respond. Suddenly I feel her fingers grab my chin and force me to look at her.
"Sweetheart, I know your nervous but it'll be alright." I jerk my face from her grip and my eyes from her face before going to find something to do. Reigna comes and sits beside me on the couch.
"How about I tell you the story of the werewolves?" She asks me.
"That's my favorite." I whisper and after a moment she starts to speak.
"There once was a Sun Goddess that brought light and happiness to the earth. The creatures of the earth worshiped and loved the Sun Goddess, but the Moon Goddess was always ignored and hated for they didn't like the darkness.
One day out of anger the Moon Goddess covered the earth in darkness, blocking out all of her sisters light, however she could only block it out for so long. The battle between the Sun and Moon Goddess became known as day and night. The Moon goddess, still filled with anger and hate cursed some of the earth's creatures called humans, she cursed them to turn into savage beasts. Eventually, the Moon Goddess became sympathetic and grew to love the creatures, which she came to think of as her children, but was unable to remove the curse. Instead she gave them control over their beastly selves and a soul mate so they would not be doomed to live a life of sadness and loneliness as she."

I unpacked my suitcase, being restless all day. I was currently trying, and failing, to read a book. It was getting close to time and I could feel it, but I still just try to ignore it.
"Zane, it's time to go outside." Reigna calls to me and I follow the sound of her voice into the living room by the front door.
"But, I'm not ready."
"Come on sweetheart, I'll be right there with you the whole time."
I reluctantly follow her outside and wait anxiously as the Moon rises higher. Reigna stops my fidgeting by putting both of her hands on my cheeks.
"You'll get through this."

And then the pain starts.
