Chapter 3: Double Digits

It was Chad's tenth birthday, the day when he would never go back to single digits. Chad was excited for this and so was his mom. His dad promised to show up early with his cake, but he got home at midnight and still didn't have a cake. Chad never slept that night and heard them fighting in their room. He cried all night and realized that his dad never cared,  even when he began to trust him. He would always let him down.

The next morning,  he woke up and his dad was sitting there in his chair. He never apologized. The only thing he said was,"Good morning Chad." That night his emotions died and he wouldn't learn to trust him for six months. A life without a trustworthy dad is compositely unbearable, but easier than being let down over and over. Chad learned to have strength, and hide his emotions really well. Later in his life, he learned to hide them a little to well...
