- Katie -
I lifted my head, snapping out of my trance. I looked up from my science textbook looking around my room.
I thought I heard the doorbell, and normally I'd ignore it, but my mom was out with Lily so I'd have to answer it.
It rang again and I sighed, getting out of the chair pulled up to my desk and heading downstairs. I went to the front door and looked out the window.
I groaned and ran a hand through my hair. It was Luke. I've been ignoring him for the past three days. He's texted me about a million times each day – and after ignoring him all this time I started to feel bad. I opened the door, crossing my arms so I didn't look accepting.
"Katie, I'm so sorry. I was going to tell you, I swear. I was just scared that you'd get mad or not want to talk to me anymore and I didn't want to hurt your feelings. I really like you and I still want to talk to you even though I'm leaving, and I'm sorry I should have told you." he rushed out.
I stood there, trying to process everything he said, then went, "It's okay. I'm sorry for ignoring you. I should have just let you explain."
Did Luke just say he likes me? This boy who I thought I had a zero chance with likes me.
"No, I'm sorry," Luke said.
"Come in?" I asked, opening the door a little wider. He nodded and stepped inside, then followed me to the couch.
"Where's Lily?" Luke asked me.
"Out with my mom," I shrugged. "So, when do you leave?"
"Saturday," Luke answered.
"In three days?" I frowned.
"Yeah. Katie I'm so sorry."
"Luke it's your job, it's okay," I cried.
"But... What about Lily?"
"She'll be fine," I waved it off, even though both of us knew the truth.
It was quiet for maybe thirty seconds, until I went, "Well I was studying so..."
"I'll help you," Luke offered, which is how we ended up in my room, sitting on opposite sides of my bed while Luke quizzed me on vocabulary.

"Have you talked to Luke yet?" Em asked me the second we sat down to eat our lunch.
"Yeah. He came over last night and we talked about it," I said.
"That's good," Em said, right as Erin sat down beside her.
"Hey Erin," I said after taking a bite from my sanwhich.
"Hey," Erin said back.
"Can you guys come over to my house after? I need help," Em asked us.
"Yeah. With what?" I asked.
"Making the sign for Calum," Em answered, dumping a handful of goldfish into her mouth.
"Oh. Yeah sure," Erin replied.
Eventually school ended, and the three of us left school together and headed for Em's house.
