It was the day after my graduation party and Luke had come over to hangout. The two of us were currently sat in the living room, while my mom cleaned around the house. It was pretty quiet, except for the hum of my mother in the other room, considering my loud little sister was asleep in her room. Yesterday had tired her out.

My legs were laid across Luke's lap, his hands resting on my legs as he was on his phone. The home phone rang, causing me to look up.

"Can you answer that for me?" mom called from inside the closet where she was cleaning out coats we didn't wear.

I reached behind me and picked the phone up from the table holding a lamp, and looked at the caller ID.

"It's the hospital," I responded before swinging my legs over the side of the couch and standing before walking over to the closet in the hallway between the living room and kitchen.

"Put it on speaker," I said, my curiosity getting to the best of me. I walked back over to Luke and sat beside him, listening to the conversation  as my mom pressed the speaker button.

"Hello. This is Dr. Collins from Second Chance and I'm calling about our patient Lillian. Is this Ms. Marsh?" the familiar man's voice said.

"Speaking," my mom replied, stepping out of the coat closet and placing a hand on her hip.

"Hello Ms. Marsh. The other doctors and I have been looking over your daughter's scans and we believe her condition may get worse between now and the next two months."

When he was met with silence he continued, "However, this doesn't mean her condition will be fatal."

"O-okay," my mom said, still in shock.

My mom took him off speaker phone and walked into the kitchen, quietly talking to him on the phone.

I felt my heart sink and I emotionlessly stared at the window. I didn't want her to get worse. She was supposed to get better.

"That doesn't mean anything," Luke whispered, referring to the doctors words. "Lily's strong. I know she'll only get better."

I sighed and let Luke pull me into his lap, and I stayed there, resting my head on his chest and listening to his heart beat.

"I know it sounds crazy but I just want her to get out and experience the world in case she does get more sick and can't do much," Luke reasoned, playing with my fingers which were laying on the cold kitchen table.

"I agree but..." mom hesitated. "Lillian will be so far away from me. What if she gets sick and needs to go to the hospital for any reason? With her condition she catches infections easily..."

"I'll have people keep an eye on her. I promise she'll be fine and there won't be a minute where she isn't been watched. And if she needs to go to the hospital I'll drop everything for her. I don't care if it's in the middle of rehearsal or a concert. I'll be there."

I smiled slightly. Luke was so good to Lily. She had him wrapped around her little finger.

My mom sighed.

"Katie will be there. You know how protective Katie is over Lils. She'll be fine," Luke said. "And if she goes to the hospital for any reason I'll call you and I can also buy you plane tickets to come see her whenever you want."

My mom let out a small sign, and looked up behind Luke and I. I turned, watching my half-awake sister walk into the kitchen.

"Why don't we ask Lillian now that she's up?" mom suggested.

Lily tiredly walked over to the three of us, standing beside my mom who hugged her.

"Lillian, how would you feel about traveling to Japan?"

"I'll miss you mommy," Lillian sniffled, hugging mom tight.

Em stood beside me, holding her suitcase while Calum held her close to him by her waist. Ashton and Bryana stood to the side, talking to each other, while Michael stood beside Luke, the two of them quietly talking.

Lily and I would only be away from home for a month, but Lily acted like we'd be gone years. She was hugging and crying on my mom, refusing to let go.

"Lily it's only for a month," I sighed.

Lily sniffed and gave mom another hug, before running back over to Luke, who bent down and picked her up in a hug, letting her cry into his chest.

I frowned and walked over to mom, who stood to her full height.

"Call me every day," she said, before bringing me into a tight hug. "Take care of your sister."

"Okay," I replied, breathing in her scent and giving her a small squeeze.

Our flight was announced, and I waved at mom before walking towards the gates with my friends. Bodyguard protected us from the paparazzi, who snapped pictures of us. Suddenly Lily's hand slipped from my grasp and I pushed a guard aside, running right into the crowd of paparazzi to go after her.

I didn't care that coming into this crowd was dangerous. I shoved and pushed my way through, and stood on my tip toes, watching with a broken smile as Lily ran back to mom, jumping into her arms to hug her again.

A bodyguard grabbed my arm, using his other arm to shield me as he walked me back to Luke, while another went after Lily. Luke wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and the other around Lily's and the three of us stayed like that all the way until we got to our seats.
