Chapter 3- Jo Lee POV

Dying camel sound, its so weird that over 3 months I'm still not used to it. I cringe at my sister's 10,000th try at 'hot cross buns.' Best summer ever! I clap, "You're going to be the best in class!" I say, I have just discovered that I don't need to even try to teach.

"You really think so Jo?" Laura asks.

"Yep!" I say, lying. 3 more days of cringing at dying camel sounds.

Chapter 3- Melina Shantel POV

3 days till school and the new neighbor wants to know the usual: Why I'm so small. This person doesn't seem nice at all. "So, Katy. Why'd you move here?" I ask her while I'm in her bare room.

"My dad's stupid job. I've been in over ten country's and over thirty states," she answers. I gasp. I haven't even been out of the city, let alone another country!

She must've noticed I looked shocked because she said, "Haven't you been to England? California? New York?" I shake my head at every word. "Really? You haven't gone on vacation?"

"To the movies," I answer.

"The movies?"

"Yeah, I haven't ever, really left the city of Albroke," I answer. Now she is the one who is shocked.

"What? You never left this stupid, dinky town?" She says.

"Excuse me! But this stupid, dinky town is amazing! You just moved here! You don't know anything about it!" I practically yell, but I don't. I walk out of the room and down the stairs.

I look towards the living room and tell my mom, "Mom, I'm going back home. OK?" And I walk out of the small house across the street.

Once I get back to my house I go up to my room dig out my phone and text my "friend" Jo. She is not really a friend but I sometimes talk to her. I send her a text.

Melina: Hey there's this girl who just moved into the house across the street. She seems rude... What should I do?

I wait for Jo's response.

My phone vibrates. Jo: Relz? Creaky old house got peps in it? Wow! So what's bout dis new gurl? Jo, oh Jo. She serious can't use girl when its the same amount of letters as gurl. Really the u and i are right next to each other!

I text back, without misspelling a word. Melina: Well the first thing she asked me was 'Why are you so small?'

Jo: No! U don't ask a gurl dat! Tell me more!

I told her everything and the only response I got from her was: Jo: U never left de town?

Chapter 3- Katy Hayes POV

3 days after the whole Melina Incident and its time for my first day of school. The house is practically all unpacked and I got everything I need. Except Mel hates my gutes. But really I'm going to move in seven months time, I guarantee it.

"Good luck Katy! Hope you have a great day!" My mom says handing me lunch money.

--------

I enter the high school and look for my locker which I use to hold the contents that I empty out of my backpack. I hold my mouthpiece my tuba in my hands. The school said they have one here for me. I haven't played my tuba in a week, what with the moving.

Surprise surprise. I notice pink haired, tiny, no sun seeing Melina. Her locker is right next to mine. She holds a French horn case in her hands. Of course she's a French horn player, one if I ever saw one. I ignore her and head to my first class.

I look at my schedule:

First hour: Mathematics

Second hour: English

Third hour: Geography

Fourth hour: Band/Gym

Fifth hour: AP Psychology

Sixth hour: Science

I head of to math I notice a slightly blondish pinkish head of locks, unlike Melina this hair is light. Melina's is dark, almost purple.she holds a flute case, a trumpet case and I notice poking out from her backpack a tuba mouthpiece and some rosin. Music geek.

Chapter 2- Melina Shantel POV

I look down at my class list for yet the tenth time:

First hour: Mathematics

Second hour: English

Third hour: Science

Fourth hour: Band/Gym

Fifth hour: AP Psychology

Sixth hour: Geography

I grab hold of my French horn and head to English, I notice Jo's blonde head with"baby pink" as she had said. Her arms are full of all her instruments. Good thing the violin and tuba are at the school. She had texted me her class schedule the night before:

First hour: Mathematics

Second hour: Science

Third hour: English

Fourth hour: Band/Gym

Fifth hour: Jazz Band/Orchestra

Sixth hour: Geography

I can't believe the school actually gave her two hours of music! I quickly stride over to her. "Need anymore hands?" I ask.

"Nah, but soon I will. I'm getting a clarinet. I was supposed to get one during summer but I had to teach Laura. She sounds like a dying canal by the way," typical Jo, always getting new instruments, talking as much as she plays. "Ready for math?"

I nod, even though math is my least favorite subject (probably because everyone makes fun of me) I still wonder who is in the class.
