The building looked just as rundown as it always had. Alexander sighed as he looked around to the other students. He saw a new girl, who was drop dead gorgeous. She had dyed black hair, with bright red tips, and the most brilliant blue eyes he had ever seen. She was wearing an All Time Low crew neck and a pair of black skinny jeans. She wasn't stick thin, but she wasn't over weight. Even if she was, she'd still be beautiful. He mentally cursed himself for not wearing his All Time Low shirt, as he had previously planned. He decided to go with a much simpler, purple t-shirt. He sighed, looking up at the rundown building, again.
The school building once had a look of grandeur, he could tell. The walls were once a brick red, the window panes were a bright white. He had heard from a few of the seniors that there had once been chandeliers hanging in the main hallway, and that it was once a very elite public boarding school.
Then, a terrible crime happened here, and suddenly, it became a dead beat high school, it's only claim-to-fame is it's Acting Class. Very few students get in, but it was known to be one of the best. They only accepted locals, and you had to prove you lived close-by, to be able to come. And he had gotten in.
He walked into the building, with one last look at the girl with the blue eyes, and he strode to his locker. He didn't know why he wanted to go to his locker, he usually carried his books around with him. But, he needed to put something else in the locker, that he didn't want anyone else to see. He pulled the small, plastic box out from his bag, and set it at the bottom back corner of his locker. He also threw a notebook in on top of the box, to make it look a lot less inconspicuous.
He walked to his first period, which happened to be one of his favorite subjects, Math. Numbers made sense. You have formulas, and as long as you remember them, and put x and y in the right places, you could solve it. He liked Math because he was a logical thinker, which made math easy to him. He never quite understood why people didn't understand math.
His thoughts wandered to Danielle, and he shut down this thought process, as quickly as it had begun. He set to work on the rather complex problem on the board. Math went by quickly, and so did his next subject, English.
In his third class, something spectacular happened. The pretty girl with the blue eyes became his lab partner.
"Hello." The girl said, smiling brightly. Alex noted that she had a gorgeous smile.
"Hello." He replied, nearly kicking himself for staring at her with wide eyes.
"I'm Hailey." She held her hand out for him to shake.
"Alexander. But you can call me Alex." He shook her hand, "Or Lex. Or Xander. Or whatever you want, really." He shrugged, trying to look nonchalant.
She simply chuckled.
He felt like a creep, but he wanted to know this girl. He wanted to know her birthday. He wanted to know her favorite book. He wanted to know her favorite songs. He wanted to know who she idolized. He wanted to know if she slept curled up against a pillow, or sprawled out. He wanted to know what she loved most in the world. He wanted to know if she cried herself to sleep, or if she was completely content with her life.
But he voiced none of these curiosities aloud. He wanted her to like him, and he was going to make sure she did.
"I really like your shirt." Alex said.
"Thanks." She smiled, but something told him that she wasn't being sincere.
"I'm not one of those douches who will tell you that just so you'll like me, y'know? I love All Time Low. my favorite song by them is Stay Awake." He wanted her to know, he wasn't just complimenting her because she was beautiful. She looked slightly taken aback.
