"Hold on," I put up my index finger on Clara's mouth.
We were hanging out in Lewis's house, watching horror movies on Netflix. Lewis was in the kitchen making sandwiches for us. Clara waited for Lewis to leave the living room to tell me her top secret.
"Are you seriously not understanding not getting this?" Clara frowned, "For the millionth time Audrey, it a double date."
"So after all this years of you having a crush on Lewis- major crush, mind you. You suddenly... stop?"
She nodded.
"And you have one little, friendly chat with Matt, then you guys just fall in love?"
She nodded, "I wouldn't say we're in love, but hopefully-"
"And he asked you out, then suggested that Lewis and I should go along with you, and he called it a, fun, harmless , little fun double date?"
She nodded.
"And it's tonight?"
She nodded, "Look at the bright side, we both got fine men." She winked at me.
"No!" I protested, "I dislike Matt, and I don't see Lewis that way."
She looked at me confused, "Why don't you like Matt? He's so sweet, nice, and cute-"
"No," I cut her off, "He's so bitter, mean, and-" I paused, Clara smirked at me.
"Say it."
"No."
"Say it, Audrey."
"You can't make me."
She look at me and smirked again, "I bet you're thinking it,"
My eyes widened in disbelief, "No I'm not!"
"Why so defensive?" She asked with a skeptical look in her eyes.
I let out a exasperated sigh, "Can stop talking about your boyfriend?"
She gave me one last look and nodded, "So, you in?"
I scoffed, "Fat chance."
She pouted her lips, "Why not?"
I could go with Lewis as friends, but we're going to be the fourth wheel and it's going to be boring watching Clara and Matt do couple stuff. Much less Lewis doesn't even know about this. Then I heard it.
"There's food." Clara's words floated in the air like some sort of gas.
"I'm in." I grinned at Clara, making her grin back at me.
If you ever want to me to do something for you, always- and I mean always- add the sentence, 'there's food' and I'll accept in no hesitation. But I will obviously not accept if you want me to help you rob a bank or kill someone and hide their body. Who's that stupid to even agree to that.
Lewis came back with three plates on him, two on his hands and one on his forearm. "What did I miss?" He asked as he set the plates on the coffee table. Clara and I evilly grin at Lewis, making him look at us with a suspicious look.
An hour later after telling Lewis about the double date, forcing him to agree to fail later, then dropping the 'There's food' line. Clara and I went back to my house to change. My parents were downstairs, doing actual parent work. Shocker, I know.
