The dedication above was because your stories inspired me. Plus, you told me that I should post this story.
The person beside is Mr. Peter Danes. :D He's too smexy to ignore.
* * *
Mr. Peter Danes was an astronomer. He liked staying up the entire day, using his dearest telescope. His biggest dream was to own a space probe. His wife, Mylene Danes, supported him. Mrs. Danes was the operator of the old Planetarium behind their house. It could be obviously pointed out that they were meant to be together.
2012, Mr. Danes had been employed to a Space Research Team in Sussex, much to his enthusiasm. Mrs. Danes was also the supportive one, making all the snacks of Mr. Danes’ colleagues, and visiting the Research Team twice a day – checking if her husband wasn’t tired.
Peter was thirty-five and Mylene was twenty-eight when the Research Team found a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy that even has a higher Oxygen level than Earth, it was named Aeonius. It had no beginning and no end. It was located two hundred light-years from Earth and looks white from outside. Its diameter was no smaller than Jupiter’s and it was calm.
Peter’s Team sent a probe to check on the planet further, thus, giving the crew a break time. Mr. and Mrs. Danes happily returned to Manchester. The couple spent their time, catching up – doing what married couples were meant to do, dating, going out, and planning ahead. In one of their talks, Peter promised to Mylene that they would make their family in Aeonius and will live a peaceful life there.
Even when the probe hadn’t returned yet, Peter continued to study about the possible actions to be done to make it become like earth. He succumbed himself into his studies, doing research all-day. Mylene had worried about her husband’s over-dedication, but every time she asks Peter to stop and rest for a while, Peter evades.
A week before the probe arrived, Mylene had a blackout when she was walking toward the market. Everyone helped her to bring her to the hospital. When she had woken up, she expected Peter to be beside her, but the white walls of the hospital room greeted her. No one was there.
Due to the discovery of Aeonius, Peter’s Research Team had been popular – specifically, the Team Leader, Mr. Danes. Being the wife of Peter, her fainting spell had been a very intriguing news to everyone in the world. A week after she had fainted, she had been getting an awful lot of interviewers, asking about what she feels or about a new baby. She never answered.
Though, there was one question that she faithfully answered. Why did you faint?
Her answer was:
Along the way going to the Marketplace, I saw a lady in white, with beautiful white flowers all around her. She was walking toward me, saying ‘I’m your child’ and gave me a white single white Ixora. After I held the Ixora, I saw nothing except white and everything was peaceful. After that, I woke up in this bed.
Everyone thought her answer was just a lie, but some believed in it. After a week, the issue deceased.
When she had finally left the hospital, she visited the Research Team. Peter was there. He was so upset. The probe already arrived. It said:
Toxic Area. Oxygen Rate is too high. Mainly composed of Hydrogen Peroxide and Ammonia Water. Surface made of Polyvinyl Alcohol soil. Temperature, normal.
Peter, despite the upsetting news, he tried pulling up a smile to his wife. Of course, he wouldn’t want to make his wife sad – moreover, break his promise. “Hi, Mylene,” he greeted.
“How’s the progress, dearie?” asked Mrs. Danes, setting the snacks on their table.
“Uhh,” he thought for a second, “good. Very good, actually,” Mr. Danes then closed his laptop, where the results flashed on its screen, and ran to his wife, patting her shoulders to shake off his nervousness.
“Oh,” she mused and looked at her husband’s colleagues, “then, why are you so gloomy?”
“Of course, all of you shouldn’t be gloomy,” said an old woman by the doorstep. She had huge sunglasses and teensy clothes. Thick make-up coated her face, flawless, too. When she took off her sunglasses, everyone gaped, but no one can beat Peter’s.
“MOM?” exclaimed Peter. Everyone except Mylene hung their jaws even wider.
“Momsy!” called Mylene as she ran to her mother-in-law. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you.”
The senior citizen scoffed. “No, dear, I’ve seen you in your hospital bed. You were still unconscious when I visited you.”
“Oh.”
“Now, guys,” summoned Peter’s mom, Isabelle, “take that stupid and bloody frowns off your faces and be triumphant!” She was ecstatic as she brought out more food from her bag. It was clearly seen on her face: a HUGE smile. She even whistled a merry tune.
“Listen, Mylene’s doctor phoned me,” said Isabelle as she sauntered across the room, pulling chairs toward the table – everyone was dumbfounded. “They said, Mylene is expecting a child in eight months and two weeks!”
“WHAT?!” bellowed the soon-to-be parents.
He couldn’t believe what his mother just told everyone. He promised. He vowed to his wife that she would be giving birth to her baby in the new planet and his problem was that the planet was toxic.
Eight months and two weeks is everything he only has left to make that planet stable and he was at zero percent completion.
