We sailed back to Nassau while taking some good prizes along the way and making things between Edward and I even more awkward than they already were. The whole way back to Nassau, I laid in my cot at night freezing because there was a leak in the deck above and I was too stupid to tell Edward about it. I'd rather freeze to death then tell him about the leak, and besides, we only had one more night at sea before Nassau.
I wrapped my blanket around me that really only made me colder because it was wet as well. I could feel my body temperature dropping within every minute but I didn't get up and go to the warmth across the room. No, I lied there and let my body freeze. If I died at least I would see Enzo again and if I didn't, well I probably wouldn't survive. I just thought of Enzo, and with every memory, I had of him, the more death came as a relief. I closed my eyes and welcomed it but like every other time I was on the brink of death, something had come to save me. "Aurora? Are you ok?" Came Edwards voice as he walked into the cabian.
I didn't answer. I couldn't answer. I could only lay there under a freezing blanket and slowly lose consciousness. I could hear Edward walk over to my cot and I could feel his eyes on me. "Crist. You're freezing," he said as a few drops of water fell on him. "Why didn't you tell me there was a leak here?" He asked but knew that I could not answer him. He unwrapped me and carried me to his bed, laying me down ever so gently. He covered me up then got a warming pan and shoveled ash from the small fireplace then put it under the blanket with me at the foot of the bed.
The next I woke up was at what I would say was about midnight or later. I was puzzled at first at why I was so warm and not dead. I opened my eyes a little more and saw I was in Edward's bed. Warm and very much alive. I saw him sitting at his desk as usual and rambling through papers and maps. He looked so stressed but at the same time that stress made him look sexier. I realized what I was thinking and shook it away. "Edward," I said softly causing him to stop what he was doing at looked to me.
"Aurora, thank god you're awake. For a minute there I thought I had lost you." He said and I smiled. What was it about this man that I had just met not that long ago, that made my heart melt the same as James had? He stood up and walked over to me sitting down on the bed. "Why didn't you tell me there was a leak over your bed? I would have had it fixed the moment you told me."
I sighed "I don't know, Edward. For a minute there, death seemed pretty welcoming."
"I'm not going to let you die out here. You've got a son waiting for you to come home, and I'll be damned if you're gonna die on my watch." He said and pushed a strand of my hair out of my face and behind my ear then kissed me softly on the forehead. "Get some rest. We arrive in Nassau tomorrow." Then he stood and walked away.
"What about you?" I asked earning a smile from him.
"Don't worry about me Aurora. I'll be fine," he said back and I went back to peaceful warm sleep.

When we docked in Nassau Edward and I headed straight to the tavern. I set on a stool at the bar and laid down some gold to cover me the rest of the day "Ahoy, Anne."
"Ah, Aurora. I was wondering when I'd bee seen you again." She said as she handed me a bottle of rum. "There ya are."
"Thank you kindly dear Anne." I said as I stood "Oh, I guess I should get one for Kenway too." I said and she handed me another. I walked over to the table Edward was setting at and set the run down. "Here. I decided to be nice for a change.
"Well, I did save your life last night." He said as he took a swig of the rum.
"That too,"I said as I caught eye of two rough looking men making their way up the stairs of the tavern. One looked to be too drunk and the other didn't look drunk enough.
