Emalia Grey continued to lazily lay on her couch as she awaited Ryan's arrival, her body strewn across the plush material as she gazed at her TV. She felt impatient, hoping that the man would arrive sooner rather than later. Having gone to visit family out of the country, she hadn't been home for a few weeks, and she had- though she would never admit it aloud- missed her co-star quite a bit.
As many knew, Emalia had played Vanessa Carlysle in the Deadpool movie, and that had sparked her friendship with the actor who played Deadpool himself. The two had remained close even after the end of filming, which did not happen with most of the rest of the crew. In a way, whether platonic or not, the two had a chemistry that was evident both on and off screen.
Upon his arrival, the long-awaited man entered the apartment with the key the girl had given him, making his presence known with a cheesy joke and an obnoxious laugh. Almost immediately, Emalia shot to sit up, patting at her hair as she grinned at Ryan as he came into view. He held a bag from a drug store in his hand, though he grimaced at her as he held it up.
"Bad news, babe. They didn't have any sour gummy worms left so I brought those watermelon gummy things instead, hope that works," he admitted, giving her a small pout as her grin fell and her eyebrows furrowed. He held up the flimsy bag of the candy and shrugged.
She pushed herself to be better seen, as she was mostly hidden behind the couch, her hair falling in her face as she gave her company a displeased look. "I love you, you're one of my best friends, but you have betrayed me and everything you stand for. You've changed," she quoted, huffing as she pushed the hair out of her eye.
The man exited the kitchen he previously stood in to approach the saddened girl, quirking his eyebrow as he asked, "Did you just quote Tom Haverford to tell me I'm a bad friend?" When realizing he understood her reference completely, the grin reappeared and she jumped to hug her guest. He wrapped his arms around her waist and the two fell onto the couch together with a laugh. Ryan's laughter cut off as he looked over the girl's outfit. "Is that my shirt?" The girl blushed, looking down at the obviously over-sized Henley shirt before nodding and biting her lip. With a small smile he commented, "Adorable."
Ryan left his arm around the girl as she rested her head on his shoulder, holding the remote as she clicked on the first episode they were to watch for the day. He noticed how her eyes lit up as the theme song resonated lightly in the room, her humming along quietly. Admittedly, he loved watching her in this state, peaceful and unquantifiably happy. He admired the sparkle in her eyes and her cheesy smile, but ultimately turned away to avoid getting caught staring. He didn't want her to know that he had a soft spot for her.
And she didn't want him to know that she just might feel the same way about him.
