IT WAS SUPPOSED TO be enjoyable. Today was something they both were looking forward to accomplishing as soon-to-be newlyweds-but it turned out to be the complete opposite. Things were odd now, and they didn't know what to do about it. Was it her fault? Was it his fault? They didn't know. It felt empty now. Nothing could compare to what she felt right now. Everything went downhill from that one moment of weakness, that one thing he said, the one thing she said-and they hated it.
The meaning of love went beyond the universe. Anyone could have a deep affection toward any living or breathing thing. It went beyond devotion. Their love particularly though, held no judgment. Held no disrespect or laughing matter toward any esoteric situation. But today, things changed entirely, and that's what made them afraid. Maybe not of each other, but of the way they let all of their fears get in the way of how they acted.
Harry loved to watch her cook, mainly because she danced when she did and sang which was always music to his ears. He sat at the island, MacBook in front of him as he arranged a few files to different folders, trying to organize his laptop the way it used to be. He looked up after a brief moment, smiling at his fiancée who had been wearing one of his overly large button-downs and colorful socks. This filter of her had always been a filter he idolized. Simple fabric on her skin, hair up in a messy ponytail while she beamed with happiness, preparing breakfast for the two of them before he headed off for a dreaded day at work.
Coming home was the best part. It brightened his mood to see her smile when he walked through that door and practically screech when she ran into his arms and kissed him. The feeling he got in his stomach when she talked about her day to him and they both related on a spiritual level. Even the part when they made dinner together, sat on the couch either watching a TV series, a movie, or the news. He loved his life with her, and he wouldn't have it any other way. But they weren't always the perfect couple.
"When you sit, we have to talk about something." He says, Estella turning to him.
"About?" She rose her eyebrows, setting the plate of food in front of him and taking his laptop away, Harry slightly protesting but she gave him that look that told him not to argue with her before sighing. "Food first, then you can get back to work."
"I need you to eat first, you're calmer when you have food in your face."
"Are you insinuating that I'm going to be mad?" She squints her eyes, taking her plate and sitting across from him-waiting.
"Possibly." He sighs and rubs his face. He was stressed, she could tell. He wouldn't admit that to her though, which was one reason why things went downhill.
"What's wrong?" She frowned, genuinely concerned now.
"Okay, I know you're going to throw a knife at me but I want to explain myself before you do," He sighs, digging into his omelet. "So there's this shelter facility in San Francisco that I looked in to and wanted to revive for business and genuine concern. I haven't told you this since it just happened, but one of the companies I invested in got robbed, a group of people stole a million dollars worth of product which is a shit ton of money and putting me back months and months of work."
"Oh my god," Her eyes went wide, not expecting that. "How is that possible?"
"They must've been top class geniuses since they found a way to malfunction the security breach and cameras meaning we have no evidence of them committing the crime. They have personal files and important information about so much shit it's insane. We're thoroughly fucked. I have investigators looking at it and I'm hoping they can find anything."
