He was right. Regrettably, as always. They came in like a wrecking ball of hormones, makeup, fabric, and unidentified flying objects. In that moment, I knew there was no backing down. They were an unstoppable force. And it was all because Joziah freaking told them.

Once my friends had calmed down a bit, and gotten onto my bed, I saw him standing in the doorway, with that adorable smirk of his. I gave him a deadly glare. He just laughed and slinked off, probably to go get ready. Meanwhile, my girlfriends were bombing me with questions, exclamations, and powder.

"I can't believe he asked you out!" Eva squealed.

"OMGOSH YOUR FIRST DATE! WE HAVE TO MAKE YOU LOOK PERFECT!" Scarlet screamed, scanning my face and the makeup pallets she had in front of her.

Emma started muttering under her breath. I couldn't hear all of it but I picked up a few phrases, such as, "...if he hurts you, I swear..." You can see where she was going.

They had already picked who was doing what. Emma was assigned to clothes. Scarlet did makeup, and Eva was doing hair. So, on my bed, I had Eva behind me, twisting and pinning my hair into questionable shapes, Scar in front of me, doing everything and anything with my face, and Emma going back and forth between my closet, the dresses laid over the back of my desk chair, and me. They were doing all of this while conversing and trying to match everything into a perfect outfit. I felt like mannequin. This whole process went against all my instincts.

Finally, after the whirlwind of chatter, makeup, fabric, and hair had subsided, I got up. Good golly did my back hurt. It was like knives stabbing every inch of my spine. But after getting over that, they all carefully slipped me into the chosen dress. After they zipped it up, I eyed the makeup wipes, gathered my courage, and turned to face the mirror.

I looked gorgeous. My hair was up in a bun on top of my head, with a small band of braids around the bottom, with a white lace bow on the side. Scar did my makeup perfectly; just natural enough to not look gaudy, and bold enough to look fabulous. She had a natural tone, but then added pink eyeshadow, a wing on my eyeliner, and lip gloss. It was perfect. And then the dress. It was simple, but it tied everything together. It was a short pink skirt, with wide-ish straps, and in the back, they crossed into a big bow.

After I got a good look in the mirror, I turned to them. Eva had a huge, arrogant smirk, and a pair of white peep-toe heels with little bows at the end. She shoved them at me, and I put them on. I could not have looked so perfect for tonight if it hit me with a katore. I, gently, hugged all of them, and then kinda had a girly moment with them.

For the next couple minutes, we talked, and squealed, and they fussed over my posture, makeup hair and dress. Then, with their best friend ears, they heard something.

"He's coming!" Eva yelled, squeezing her pillow. I was always a little nervous, but the butterflies and cold feet hit me at once. I flipped, and did that weird high-heel run in carpet to the closet, where I hid. I heard a knock, more squealing, and then the door click open.

"Hello, is Kay here? I, uh, wanted to take her out tonight," Joziah said, putting on his best show. My friends giggled. Please be good friends, and don't tell him, I prayed, moving even farther back into the mass of clothes in my closet.

"Yes," Scarlet giggled, still on a high. "But first you have to talk to us."

You can guess what they wanted to talk about. It was like the talk that the guy has with the girl's father. Except instead of a father, it was three of my best friends who were way overprotective with me. And they were deadly. I could hear mostly Emma and Scarlet talking, with Eva piping in here and there. The tone was dead serious, and I was scared for a while. Then, after a long interrogation and list of rules, they gave him their blessing.

"So where is she again?" he asked, sarcastic as usual. The girls snickered.

"She's in the closet," Eva said. This was when I started panicking. I could hear the footsteps getting closer, and then he opened the door.

"Where's Kay?" he questioned to no one in particular. Then he must've seen my feet, because he slowly parted the clothes I was behind. He cupped his hand behind my ear, and said "wow."

He lead me out of the closet, and my friends smirked. They made the shooing motion, and closed the door to my room.

After a thud, he turned to me. "Close your eyes," he said, grinning.

"Why?" I asked reproachfully. As I closed them, he touched my arm.

"I guess you'll have to trust me to find out."
