Come Back in Five Years....

12: Curious

Astrid's POV

I sighed as I watched Hiccup fly away on his dragon, disappearing into the light blue amiss, just like how he had come. "What are you doing?" I jumped at the sudden voice but calmed down when I noticed it was just Ruffnut.

"I'm just trying to figure something out." I said quietly, thinking about the noises Hiccup had been making towards his dragon when we were leaving, (that sounds dirty. xD) "Figure out what?" Ruffnut said, coming up and standing next to me, "Do you know when we were leaving with Snotlout, Well, Hiccup was making strange gurgling noises towards his dragon, I'm trying to figure out what he was doing." I said, walking forward, Ruffnut trailing slightly behind. "Well, Fishlegs once said that it was dragonease, but said it was extremely hard to learn." Ruffnut said, looking slightly deep in thought, which was rare for her.

"I don't think it's that, Hiccup wouldn't be wise enough to be able to do that." I sighed, rubbing my eyes as I continued walking forward, Ruffnut sighed. "You know, you need to have more faith in him. He's changed a lot and I don't really think he's the same Hiccup as when he left." Ruffnut sighed, rolling her eyes as she looked away. "She's right you know." A males voice said suddenly, I let out a small yelp as I spun around seeing Fishlegs standing there, "God! You scared me." I hissed, Fishlegs shrunk away a little bit, "Ruffnut's right though, you need more faith in him. He probably is speaking dragonease as what else would he be doing." Fishlegs said, standing up a little taller. 

I spun around as I continued walking, "I know, but.... How would he learn how to?" I said, not looking at them as we continued walking, "Well, Toothless taught me." Another males voice rung out in the air as I let out a small embarrassedly high pitched yelp as I spun around expecting another person but hearing a small laugh from above. "You know, you shouldn't talk about someone when they could be listening." My head snapped upwards and I saw Hiccup hanging upside down from his Dragon, still in the saddle. "Well, I didn't know you were there." I hissed, he laughed again as his dragon spun around, making Hiccup swing around with it. "That's the thing, but Toothless taught me how to speak Dragonease." Hiccup said, Fishlegs gasped in awe as he clapped his large hands together. "Really?! Wow, how?" Fishlegs gushed out, running forward a little as Hiccup laughed again.

"Well, I said a word and he repeated it, took me about 8 months to learn how to speak and understand it fluidly." Hiccup said, petting his dragons head as he growled out something. "What did you say to it." I said as his dragon ascended, landing softly on the ground. "I said to land, what it's to you." Hiccup said, looking up from his dragons head, I locked eyes with him and I could see anger and slight hatred. "I'm just curious." I said quietly, Ruffnut laughed a little but I hurriedly elbowed her in the stomach, making her a little winded. "Why do you always resort to pain, Astrid?" Hiccup asked, I growled as I looked at him. "What's it to you?" I asked, using his earlier words. "Well, I was just curious." Hiccup said, smirking as my mouth fall open, he used to just blurt out something stupid or shrink away.

"I personally liked it when you were scared and useless." I hissed, Hiccup's eyes went cold and in a flash he placed his hands on his dragons head, pressing up and flipping his body up and out of the saddle so his body were only supported by his arms and flipped forward, landing softly on the ground as he crouched and got out a dagger. (Pretend it all happened quickly.)

I took a step back as he took up again, "Wanna fight, Astrid?" He asked, spitting out my name like it was poison. "You're on." I hissed, reaching back and taking my axe off my back. "You're going down, Haddock." 

Hiccup's POV

I smirked as I watched Astrid reach back and take her axe off her back, I bent down and strapped my dagger back in place, standing up and taking Inferno from the belt wrapped around my waist as I pressed the small button, lighting the blade up. She looked frightened for a split second before her face hardened again, letting me think I was imagining it.

"You guys don't need to do that!" Fishlegs cried, I looked at him and he shrunk away, whilst I was distracted Astrid let out a battle cry as she ran forward, out of instincts I jumped and spun to the left, out of her range as she ran past where I was just standing. I growled as I got into a defensive stance, "GO HICCUP!" Toothless cried, I smirked when I heard him roar afterwards. Astrid spun around and ran at me again, I quickly dodged and grabbed the handle of her axe, just below the head of it as she was forced to spin around, her eyes widening as I smirked again. "You won't win." I growled. 

"Watch me." She hissed, going to kick my leg out from under me, I quickly jumped off the ground letting the handle of her axe go as she growled in frustration. I spun around as inferno created a small ring of smoke, I pressed the zipple back gas button and continued to spin around as the gas sprayed everywhere I heard Astrid yelp in surprise as I pressed the button below that and the gas sparked, I quickly pulled my cloak over me, the gas surrounding me exploding in a poof of flames.

Once the smoke cleared I saw Astrid on the ground lying on her back groaning quietly, I walked over, sitting down near her head as I smirked. "Give up?" I asked, she opened her eyes as she smirked, "Nope." she hissed before jumping up from the ground, knocking me backwards, I growled. Nobody ever touched me, never. 

She wrapped her hands around my neck, "I'm going to kill you, just like the wild dragons should've." Astrid hissed as she put pressed on my neck, I didn't show any struggle as I held my breath, allowing my body to slow my heart beat down. I used my left hand to quickly unclip my dagger from my waist, bringing my hand back up as I smirked weakly, "Astrid! STOP!!" Someone screamed. In one quick motion I brought the dagger back down, effortlessly stabbing Astrid in the thigh as she screamed in pain quickly jumping off me, landing on the ground as she hurriedly pulled the dagger out of her thigh. I jumped up from the ground, breathing heavily as I sat on her waist, leaning down, "You lose." I whispered, smirking.
