Chapter 1: Nostalgic
Kayley POV:
How many of you are fans of horror movies? How many of you think you could quickly decipher who is the murderer? Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's easy, but others are sit on the edge of your seat about to fall off scary. The ones that have you guessing until the very end, that's what my life is like. My life wasn't always a living nightmare but sometimes all good things come to an end.
My life was pretty normal for a 15 year old girl. Senior year, popularity that could last a life time, and unfair love. My hair is plain old blonde, nothing special, but that's exactly what brings out my bright blue eyes. My height? I 'm around 5'7'' and skinny. Oh, and my name is Kayley.
My parents became divorced when I was 12. My dad quickly dissipated from my life after and my mom happily re-married. I have gained a step-sister that completely understands me, although it didn't start out that way and I have to admit I was at fault for that.
***
My mom met Michael, although the name sounds sophisticated, he is far from it. He literally acts like he's twenty years younger than he actually is. He will pick you up and throw you on the couch at the most unexpected times, he pretends he is an elf by singing Christmas carols while making supper (and let me tell you, that's pretty side splitting except when it's not near Christmas then it's just plain annoying), and he pulls the worst of pranks he thinks are drop dead hilarious but are always topped by my sister and I.
I remember the day my mom told me we would be moving in to live with him and his daughter. I was completely furious. How dare she take me away from my friends and more importantly, my one getaway from the tortuous fighting between my mom and dad over their belongings. Anyway, we moved from Strathmore to Calgary and I started my new life at Michael and what's-her-face's house. The first thing I noticed; how small the closet was. I barely fit all my Guess, Arèopostale, and Garage outfits into that crammed space. And I got the smaller room! Destiny, Michael's daughter, got to keep the larger room which isn't fair. I was the guest but apparently that didn't matter since they were getting married and everyone was equal. So, I decided Destiny got the cold shoulder.
The next day, my first day of school started. I was completely mortified because everyone else had already been there for two months, my stomach twisted and I was filled with dread. Who knew what the day would bring? My first four periods went by briskly because no one took any notice to me. But the one thing I couldn't avoid arrived all too quickly. Lunch.
I made my way to the cafeteria after I had dropped my books off at my locker and headed to the concession line. Just as I was leaving to try to find a spot to sit, lettuce, tomatoes, beef, and cheese sprayed all over my new white cheetah print Guess shirt. Immediately, it became so hushed you could hear a pin drop. I wanted to disappear, become nothing but thin air.
"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I was tripped! I swear I would not purposely spill tacos on a new student!"
I snapped out of my trance and furiously spat back, "Thanks for pointing out the obvious geek!"
