I woke up with sore arms from yesterday. I really needed to get back on my workout schedule. I didn't even play hockey for very long yesterday, yet my arms were suffering.
After laying in bed for a little bit more, I headed into the bathroom to take a shower and change into some shorts and a t-shirt. When I was all freshened up, I headed into the living room and found it quiet, dark, and empty. I made my way to the drapes and pulled them back from the sliding glass door to let in the morning sunshine. Then I opened the blinds on the windows. I felt very satisfied when the sunlight lit up the room. It didn't seem so dark anymore.
Curiously, I opened Hazel's door a crack and peered in. She was still sleeping, her blanket tangled around her legs and her pillows scattered everywhere. Dang. She must move a lot in her sleep to cause that big of a mess. I don't even understand how that's comfortable! Shaking my head, I closed the door again quietly and retreated back into the living room.
I had nothing to do and nothing to eat.
My stomach was growling in anger and suffering and I couldn't help it! The only food we had left was for sandwiches and no offense but I don't eat those in the morning. I wanted to go to the store and buy food but I felt guilty at the thought of leaving Hazel here alone with nothing to do.
You could wake her up.
No way! She'd kill me!
Suck it up.
Hesitantly, I made my way back to Hazels room and peeked in again. She was still sleeping. I couldn't go into a girls room, that would be weird and possibly suspicious. So I stood in the doorway and pssted her.
"Psst. Psst! Hazel! Wake up!" My voice was a little raspy from having just woken up and I hoped she could hear it. "Hazel wake up!" I said a little louder. She didn't budge.
Her room is still dark, go in and make it brighter.
Stop talking!
I sighed and hit my head on the doorway and then carefully made my way into her room. I strolled to the curtains at the balcony doors and removed them from blocking the sunshine.
Hazel shifted and I nearly jumped out of my skin and ran back to the door. "Hazel!" I practically yelled.
She sat up groggily.
"What?" She was definitely confused.
"Get out of bed and let's go buy food! I'm starving!" I said desperately.
She still looked confused. "Okay?"
"Out of bed Hazel! Go, go, go!" I motioned for her to get out but she still sat there, looking at me with tired eyes.
Hazel yawned. "I'm still tired though!" Her voice turned into a pout. It also dropped from one octave to another, that was a cute morning voice.
My stomach growled. "You hear that? I'm dying! If you don't come I'm buying whatever I want!"
"Ugh. Okay!" She rolled off her bed and then stood up and rubbed her eyes. "Get out."
"You're the best!" I blew her a kiss (for a reason I don't understand) and then left the room, closing the door behind me.
____
"Wait, if we get two jugs of milk then we get a free pack of Oreos!" Hazel said, pointing at the label on the milk jug.
