White lights shone above her.
Another speck of her black world engulfed her.
White, black, white.
Moving people, soundless shouts.
It was if the whole world had gone mute.
Kayla couldn't hear a thing except the sound of her heart thumping slowly. It was if it were to give out any moment.
". . . Sweetheart, can you. . ."
"Wha. . .?" Kayla mumbled, eyes drooping from her haze. She was completely numb.
". . . Hear me. . .?"
Eyes closed. She opened them once more.
". . . Are you okay. . .?"
They connected her wrists to wires, the heart monitor beeping slowly.
Kayla's world became black again.
