Jungkook hesitantly pressed the accept button on his phone before bringing the device up to his ear. He was beyond nervous, this was his first time actually talking to Taehyung - the first time he would be able to hear his voice, the first time he would be having an actual conversation with the boy he met online a little over a month ago.
"Jungkookie?" Taehyung's voice came out much deeper than the younger expected, even a little raspier too. The brunette nervously looked out of his bedroom window, afraid to say anything back. "Jungkookie, hello?"
"Hi, Tae," the younger's voice came out softly, his gaze focused outside of the window as he spoke. He was beyond nervous to talk to the pinkette, in fact he never imagined he would be talking to him over the phone the way they were.
"Your voice is cute," Taehyung cooed from the other end of the line. "I like it."
Heat rushed to Jungkook's cheeks and the tips of his ears, leaving them a light crimson color. He didn't know what to say after that so he stayed quiet and listened to the steady breathing of the boy on the other end of the line. All the brunette could picture as he listened to the soothing breathing was what Taehyung looked like right then. Was his hair messy? Was he laying down on his bed? Was he smiling? So many thoughts were running through the younger's mind he almost didn't hear the next words spoken to him.
He did hear them, though. He heard them loudly and clearly.
"Can we meet up?" Taehyung asked from the other end of the line, his voice much softer compared to when he first started talking. "I could come over there or we could go out somewhere or something."
"How do you know where I live? Besides, we don't know how close we live to each other," Jungkook let out a quiet sigh. "I don't want it to cost either of us a lot of money to meet."
Most of what the younger said was indeed true. He didn't want it to cost them a lot of money when they would meet up nor did he know how far apart they lived from each other. The only thing the brunette forget to mention was the fact he didn't want to meet up with Taehyung. He was too nervous, too scared to meet up with older after only speaking to him for a month.
What if he was a completely different person?
What if he was rude?
What if?
All of those "what ifs" were scattering themselves around Jungkook's brain and it was making him think twice about actually meeting the pinkette. He wasn't one to assume such things about someone without even knowing them at first, in fact, Jungkook did know Taehyung. He knew him for a whole month and was able to learn a lot of things about the older within that month. The only thing he wasn't able to learn is if all of that was the truth.
Of course, Taehyung had his friends to back him up and prove what was a lie and what was the truth. Hoseok, Namjoon and Kaesi were all proofs of what the pinkette was really like because they actually knew him. They knew what he was like, what he did in his free time, things he liked and disliked, etc. All of which the brunette had no idea of. He didn't know all of those things about Taehyung, even if he told him. He didn't know what was the truth.
"I told you, Jimin came over my house when you were MIA. Apparently I live three streets away from you guys," Taehyung's voice grew a little deeper than before, a soft sigh being heard through the device. "If you don't want to meet up, we don't have to. It's just - the thing I want to tell you. I want to tell you in person. Can I do that?"
The brunette closed his eyes before heaving a soft sigh from his lips. He didn't want to meet up with the older, but the need in his voice when he was talking about what he needed to tell him was too much. Jungkook wanted to know what Taehyung wanted to say, in fact the only thing that's been on his mind is what the older wanted to say. Ever since he received that text from him, he's been constantly thinking of what he wanted to say. Was it good? Bad? Would it change their friendship?
Jungkook scrunched up his face at that last question that popped in his head. Their friendship was already probably ruined when Seokjin confessed the brunette's secret to the entire group - the secret of Jungkook liking Taehyung. That's the last thing he wanted the older to find out, but the entire group knowing that little secret was enough to make the brunette want to crawl into a deep hole somewhere and never come out. Things like that, things being told when they weren't supposed to, was always upsetting to the younger because he had almost lost Jimin to a secret like that before.
A few years back, when Jungkook had first met Jimin, he had a small crush on him. It was nothing big and the brunette knew that, but he told Seokjin about it anyway. And Seokjin being Seokjin, had accidentally blabbed that information to Jimin himself. It took about a week after that for Jimin to confront Jungkook about that crush, only to realize it wasn't much of a crush by the time they talked. That secret didn't ruin their friendship at all, in fact it brought the two closer together. Now they have a bond like two brothers; they'll always have each other's back. No matter what.
"Oh," Jungkook whispered. "If you have something important to tell me, then yeah we can meet up. How about we meet up at that little lemonade café by the movie theatre?"
"Sure!" Taehyung's voice excitedly spoke through the phone. "How about Sunday? That gives us three days until we meet - since it's Thursday."
"Okay."
With that, Jungkook reopened his eyes and ended the call. His heart was racing at he kept thinking about Sunday. Sunday - the day he would finally get to meet Kim Taehyung face-to-face. His crush, face-to-face. Nervous wasn't even the word to describe how he felt then.
He was terrified.
+ note ; 24/7 = heaven talking about sunday lmao
