Tututututututututu.
What the actual fuck was that?
Tututututututututu.
Oh my fucking god.
What is that?Ohhhhhhhh.
"Hello?"
I sat up, holding my phone to my ear with one hand while rubbing my eye with the other.
"Veera? Come fast to the hospital, please!"
That forced me awake.
"What? Whats wrong? Are you okay?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The drive to the hospital was madness. After Chantelle told me that her water broke and she was in the hospital, I barged into Vidyut's room.
Trying to ignore the fact that he was lying on his back, entirely naked, I proceeded to shake him awake in a violent way.
I had to punch him 5 times before he agreed to come with me.
Trust me I enjoyed it.
I was standing inside the little hospital room where she was to deliver the baby, fighting the urge to cringe every time she moaned with discomfort.
He refused to come in.
What an actual asshole.
It was a long labor. It was hours before she was ready to give birth.
Finally the doctor told us that it was time. I swear I was more nervous than her.
"PUSH!" I screamed hysterically at her, ignoring the multitude of curses that she threw at me in different languages.
Finally the ordeal was done. We heard a beautiful noise. The sound of a crying baby.
I had to resist the childish urge to make a face at how slimy she looked.
Once the nurse cleaned her up and handed her to Chantelle, I immediately knew something was terribly wrong.
The baby was beautiful. She had wispy black hair that looked so soft you wanted to bury your face in it, and a tiny button nose. The Asian features mixed with Chantelles sultry European ones made a stunning combination.
Wait one fucking minute. Asian features? Last time I checked, Vidyut was definitely Indo- European.
I looked up in sheer confusion at Chantelle. She had a sheepish smile in her face.
"Oops?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I didn't know what to say or even think. I was horrible to my husband for 4 months on a mistaken belief that he had knocked her up only to realise that it was a stupid mix up on her part?
There was a knock on the door. We turned to see Vidyut standing there, his usual poker face in place.
I could barely look at him without wanting to gouge my eyes out in shame. He had told me multiple times.
Arghhhh.
He walked to the bedside, quietly picking up the toddler. His face showed his lack of surprise.
With gentleness that I would have never believed he could possibly show, he cradled the baby for a few minutes, before setting her down silently and motioning me to come out with him.
I walked out of the room beside him, both of us not looking at the other. We walked like that in silence for a while before I chanced a glance at him. He was already looking at me.
That set us off.
We both started chucking, and this soon turned into full blown laughter.
I honestly don't know what was so funny about our situation. Whether it was my horribleness towards him and the unspoken apology or whether it was my stupidity, I don't know.
And i doubt he did either.
We laughed until our mouths hurt and our eyes watered, clutching at our sides with our unexpectedly humorous take on this entire situation.
When we were finally done, I glanced up at him, a sudden bout of embarrassment overcoming me.
He pulled me closer, pressing his lips on my forehead lightly.
All was forgiven.

When we went back to her room after grabbing a cup of coffee, Chantelle looked nervous.
She relaxed when she finally spotted us.
"What's wrong?" I asked her, concerned.
She said nothing.
"Did you honestly think we would dump you here, all alone just like that?" I asked her, offended by how shallow she thought I was.
"Of course not." She lied, a beautiful smile lighting up her face.
We spent the rest of the day in the hospital, fawning over baby Clara, and laughing off Chantelles million apologies.
Apparently she had had a small fling immediately after Vidyut. She had no idea that it had gotten her pregnant.
We drove her and Clara back home, and were finally on our own when I asked the question that had been burning through me.
"How the hell were you so certain that it was not yours?"
"I use condoms."
"So do thousands of guys who knock up their girlfriends accidentally!"
He turned to me, a slight smirk playing on his lips.
"No one, not even my sperms does anything I don't want them to."
Arrogant jerk!
"Except me, darling." I flashed an innocent smile at him.
He stopped the car to lean in and briefly capture my lips with his and muttered "And that's what I like the best about you."
That's baby Clara in the media!
Love always,
LV.
