'Really? You're actually laughing for that pathetic excuse for a joke?' she giggled, eyeing the man across her who looked like he was having a choking fit.

He nodded, tears of laughter streaming down his face as he struggled for breath.

'Perv. ' she muttered, a little smile lighting up her glowing face.

She automatically dropped her hand onto her belly, stroking it lightly.

He quieted down a little and eyed her from the corner of his eye as she stared into nothingness, a soft smile still lingering on her face.

He felt a fierce burst of love as he drank in her smiling face. He had caused that smile, and he felt so proud about that.

She was genuinely, honestly the love of his life. She did things to his heart that no one ever had. Her laugh, her eyes, even her anger all had the power to stun him.

She tried getting onto her feet only to fall back suddenly onto the couch. He helped her up, and watched in amusement as her face fell.

'Ive become so damn fat'
She whined, an expression of playful dismay on her face.

He nodded, a solemn expression on his face. She scoffed before punching him.

He bent down, a fierce need to kiss those plump lips taking over him. Gently pressing his lips onto hers, they both felt the all too familiar burst of fireworks within them.

They were jolted from their moment of passion by a shout from beneath the apartment.

'You motherfucking bastard! Don't you fucking hide my girl from me! Shes mine, you asshole! I thought I made that clear enough when I got her all knocked up, didn't I?'

The voice was enough for her to violently start shaking. He watched with a mixture of anger and exasperation as she began slipping into one of her episodes.

Her face was devoid of any emotion save the burning, all consuming darkness that had taken over her eyes.

'This is fucking enough!' he muttered and proceeded to make his way downstairs to teach that monster not to mess with this beautiful angel who stood panic stricken in front of him.

'NO! Please don't go, Jaden! Please!' she pleaded.

This was the scenario that had haunted her for many nights and it was coming true in front of her very eyes.

She tried desperately waddling to him, but with one last assuring smile, he was already on his way down.

She felt like a coward. Her heart told her to go down there, but her brain denied her the courage to do so.

The things that that man had done to her were unforgettable. And the rational fool that her brain was. It denied her the guts to come face to face with him.

She mutely watched , half hidden by the curtains, as Jaden made his way to him.

She saw the gun that the monster was holding, and felt her heart stop.

For a brief second she caressed her swollen belly, before desperately running down the stairs to try saving the man she had grown to love so.

It was as if the while scenario had played itself out in slow motion. Jaden stiffened as he finally comprehended the gun.

The monster twisted his face into a smile so cruel, so dark, that it burnt a darker hole into her brain, forever promising to haunt her sleep.

She tried reaching Jaden, to stand herself in front of him. Ignoring the almost insistent kick from within her stomach, she continued walking.

Perhaps it was his drunken lack of coordination or plain cruelty, she saw the gun go off, and watched as the bullet pierced her love in the stomach.

Her eyes were wide as she looked back at the animal to see that his gaze was now fixated on her. She knew.

She knew.

But still she tried.

She tried to run.

But her panicked steps were no match for him. He grabbed a fist full of her hair, before yanking her sharply back.

"You little slut. Did you really just try to save him? Are you fucking stupid?"

She felt the vengeful kick to her stomach. And he refused to stop. Desperate attempts at doing something to make him stop were futile and she knew it.

And yet she tried.

She tried to survive.

She impacted the ground face first.

The physical pain had taken over her sensory organs, bursting through every cell of hers.

And yet it was the finality with which her heart tore open that caused her to moan.

It was not the searing pain that had taken over her body that mattered to her. It was the gentle flow of liquid between her legs that caused her to scream heartbreakingly.

She wanted to lay awake. She wanted to mourn the end of everything that had once prompted her to survive . And yet, her traitorous brain failed her yet again, as she felt her consciousness slipping away from her.

She wanted to die.

I woke up screaming, the tears having wreaked havoc on my face.

Years of suppressing that memory, years of therapy, sleeping pills, none of that mattered any more.

I curled up into a ball, silently soaking up the pillow with years of unshed tears.

He was suddenly there, bending down to my level, intense eyes and furrowed brows.

He didn't ask anything, simply lifting me into his arms and holding me flush against his chest.

I knew I was supposed to hate him. I knew that I was supposed to push him away.

And yet the pain would just not fucking leave my heart. The hurt would just not numb itself.

Hmm...

I don't think I have much to say.
