The Greeks weren't the only ones who had fearsome gods with tragic tales and devastating ends.

Egypt did, too, and their stories are just as harrowing, especially that of Osiris and Set--brothers who opposed one another and, in the end, one murdered the other by tearing him into pieces.

That's what "Rise from the Ashes" is based off of--taking the timeless tale of Osiris vs Set and morphing it into my own story; one that begins with a girl named Zahra Kasmut, who was thrown into the middle of a chaotic and destructive civil war after Set slaughtered his brother, the Pharaoh.

She defended Egypt against Set's crazed reign of terror and cruelty yet, thousands of years later, the war is still alive and well. Evil still thrives in the shifting sands beyond Thebes, underneath the rubble of fallen temples, and it--he--has now returned.

"Rise from the Ashes" is a mixture of Egyptian mythology and the super-powered world of the X-Men. It combines archaic lore with modern heroes. This isn't some campy, happily ever after, but a world filled with unraveling secrets, ancient powers, gut-twisting death and a psychotic man who lives in the shadows of our world.
