Emma's POV:
"I don't want to wait for Jack because I don't want to talk to him right now. Distractions are the last things I need." I said, getting up from our table and headed to the field.
Meredith followed behind me.
"Where are you going?" Meredith asked trying to catch up with me.
"The field."
"Why is that?"
"I'm going to look for Annabelle. I need to finish this senior interview paper for journalism." I said, struggling to grab my things out of my backpack.
"That's due at the end of the year." Meredith said, as she picked up the pencil I dropped.
"Thanks, but I think it's better to get things done earlier so I don't have to procrastinate and do it later." I said, taking a seat on the bleachers.
"How do you even know if she's out on the field?"
Annabelle is the most popular girl in school, like I said before. She has the perfect high school life that every little girl was dreaming of when they get to high school. She had good grades, amazing fashion sense and her boyfriend is the quarterback of the football team. Her life seems too good to be true but if Annabelle wasn't in the cafeteria, it meant that she was supporting her boyfriend out on the field during their lunch practices.
"Great job babe!" Annabelle said, as she cheered and tossed a towel at her boyfriend.
"I love you!" Ryan said, as he went back in the game.
"Love you too!"
-
"There." I said, pointing at her.
I walked over to her, kind of shy and not knowing what to ask her. She was so beautiful that I felt like I wasn't allowed to be in her presence. Shut up Katie, what the heck are you talking about? I said, feeling like an idiot.
"Hi." I said, probably sounding like a dork.
"Hi Katie." She said, patting the seat beside her.
"You know my name?" I asked awkwardly, as I sat next to her.
"Of course. You're the student body president and the leader of the prom committee right?" She said with a smile.
"Yeah ."
"That's very impressive for a junior. Is that even possible?"
"I was supposed to skip a grade last year but I didn't want too. So the school said I could still join a few clubs and activities that are for seniors so I gave the student body president thing a try and luckily many people voted." I said, feeling like I was being interviewed instead of her.
"That's amazing and I wish you skipped a grade because then we'd have a bunch of classes together. But I know you made the right decision for you."
"Thanks. But what I really wanted to talk about was, I'm writing a school paper for the journalism class and I was wondering if you could be my interviewee."
"Yeah I'd love to. I remember having to do that last year." She said.
"Thank you and when do you think we can start?"
"Can we do it on Saturday? I have to do some community service to do for my senior project during the week."
"That'd be great." I said, walking back to the cafeteria to eat my lunch.
"I'm starving." Meredith said, as she took huge bite of her lunch.
"How do you eat this stuff?" I asked, disgusted at the food that the cafeteria serves."
"You gotta do what you gotta do to survive." She said, enjoying her gross lunch.
-
We finished our food and I headed to the library to finish an extra credit paper for English. Meredith stayed behind with Daniel's group. As I was typing, Jack was coming my way. I immediately closed my laptop and headed out the other exit of the library.
"Emma!" Jack yelled, as he tried to catch up to me.
"What?" I said, making a sharp turn that almost lead Jack to bump into me.
"I need to tell you-"
"Hey Jack, tomorrow's Tuesday, you know what that means." I heard Mrs. Parker say to Jack.
"Are you kidding me? The teacher too?" I said, as I sneered.
"No, it's a total misunderstanding, let me explain." He said, grabbing my arm.
"Let go of me." I said, tugging on my arm.
He wouldn't let go, so I decided to scream.
Jack's POV:
"Shut up, someone might hear you." I said, covering her mouth and shoved her into the janitor's room, since it was the only place we could talk in private.
"That's the point!" She said, in a muffled voice. I put down my hand and got ready for the lecture.
"Why in the world, would you shove me in the janitor's room?" She asked, as she readjusted her backpack.
"I need to explain. One, I broke up with Jessica. Two, Mrs. Parker is helping me get ready for my SATs and ACTs every Tuesday. Three, I'm sorry." I said, taking her hands.
"I don't care! Just let me out!" She said, harshly and managed to open the door.
"That's it?" I asked, sounding kind of hurt.
"In what part do you not get what leave me alone is?" Katie said, as her pace began to get faster and faster.
"I just wanted to apologize." I said, trying to get a gasp of air.
"And you already did."
"So does that mean we're okay?" I was getting mixed messages.
"No!" Katie yelled. Her face froze when she realized that she yelled in the hallway.
"Then what do I have to do to get you?"
"I don't know... Be yourself?" She said, in more of a sarcastic way than serious.
"But you don't like me."
"I think you just answered your own question. Congrats, you won the privilege of not having to talk to me for the rest of your life." Katie said.
Katie was the most confusing girl I've ever talked too. Her mood swings weren't making her attitude towards me any better.
