Clove's POV
After training I didn't see Cato. Maybe too insecure about my skills. But why would he be? He's like an expert at swords and spears. I'm just an amateur at those weapons. And of course there's no reason I should be seeing Cato. We're not even friends. The whole training session ended and still I didn't see him. The bell rung signaling the end of classes. As I walk out of the room I saw him with that same flirt blonde having a liplocked session right beside my locker. I feel disgusted. Of all the places why there? I run towards my locker as fast as possible just to get out of here soon. As I opened my locker I quickly get my things and hurriedly closed it. I was going when I felt someone grab my arm. I looked up and saw Cato. He's not with her anymore. "Oh. Sorry for interrupting your sweet moments" I said looking straight at him. "Oh. That. It's fine. Well by the way, Ms. Eastwood, I want to talk to you privately tomorrow afternoon". "About what?". "You'll know if you'd come". "But.." "No buts. I'll wait for you in that willow tree ok." I nodded. He smiled genuienely. "See you tomorrow" and he waved goodbye.
"Mom. I'm home" I called as I entered the house. Nobody answers. I go to my room to unpack my things. I laid to my bed and think about what Cato said. Should I go? What if it is only a trap to hurt me, torture me, or worse kill me? No. I should trust him. He looks harmless. Besides I can protect myself. "Clove. Get down. Dinner's ready" mom called. "I'm coming". As I walk towards the table I felt the air being uncomfortable. Everybody seems too quiet than usual. Especially Dad. "What's wrong?" I asked breaking the silence. "Nothing. You're mom is just being angry that I am assigned to work with Cato's mother." Dad answered. We were all quiet until we finished eating. "Hey, Clove, how's training?" Silver asked. "Doin fine." "Is it true that the training center was big?" "Yup" I see Silver as the most competent in the family. He always says that he would volunteer for the hunger games and win us a house in the victor's village.
Cato's POV
"Clove.. No... Clove... Stop!!!" I shouted as I woke up. I realized it was only a nightmare. "Cato, are you alright?" Sapphire asked. "Yeah. Yeah. I'm alright baby girl. Don't worry ok" "Ok. But who's Clo....." I placed a hand over her mouth. "Sshhh. You can't tell anything about her Ok?" "Even mother?" "Yup. Even her. Ok?" "Okay". "Come on lets go downstairs". "Oh Cato, I forgot to tell you mother was called early. She said you would have to cook for breakfast while she's gone." Great.So I will be in charge in households. I noticed a note stick.in our ref. "Cato, your dad and I will be gone for five days. Be good. Love Mom." Okay.
I headed to the training center with Sapphire. The whole morning passed slowly and as boring as ever. I didn't see Clove in training. Tss. Where is she? I really need to talk to her. I went to the willow tree hoping she would meet up with me and accept my offer.
"Hey"
I looked up. She's standing in front of me.
"Hey. Umm....I... I thought you're not coming."
"Oh. Sorry. I headed Silver home first. So what's that your asking me?"
"Um...I..I..I want you to be my training partner"
Clove's POV
Training partners? Should I accept his deal? What if he will just know my weakness? What if?
"Yes" I hesitately said.
"You sure?" he asked.
"Yup"
I thought this would be an advantage to me. I'll know what his weakness. I'll also learn new skills I hadn't mastered yet.
"So.. Do you accept my offer to be my official training partner? Deal or No Deal?" he gestured a handshake.
"Deal" i said accepting his handshake.
