Silence filled the vicinity. My mind was still occupied by what he said earlier.
That I'm important to him? Nonsense.
I'm just a partner for him. A friend, maybe. But that's it. I'll just be a friend for him.
How important could a friend mean to him? He has lots of them.
"Clove," he finally broke the awkward silence.
My eyes met his and the I was suddenly lost at the sea of blue.
"Clove, I always wanted to tell you this. I- I just can't get the- the right time- to- you know- to tell you this. But please believe me. Clove, I-"
"Clove,"
A familiar feminine voice disrupted us from behind.
Automatically, I turned my head in recognition.
I met my mother's eyes full of fury, hatred, anger.
"You!" She yanked me beside her still pointing her finger at Cato.
"Don't you even dare to touch nor talk with my daughter again! You have no idea on how worse you can pay for it!"
She pulled me as she hurriedly walked towards our house, her fingernails deepening in my arms.
But before we left, I caught Cato's face. Full of shock, disappointment, and isolation.
