You walk down the hall, carrying a stack of linens, when King Peter comes out of a room right in front of you. You bump into him.
"Oops! I'm so sorry, my lord!" You gasp in horror. You quickly curtsy, blushing. You have a huge crush on King Peter. You've never talked to him, but have had a crush on him from afar.
King Peter looks at you and smiles kindly. You're struck by how blue his eyes are up close. "No worries, Y/N." He replies.
Your eyes widen in surprise. "You know my name." You say.
He nods. "Yeah, I do. I see you around the castle a lot." He explains. "Plus I've seen you walking along the shores at night before and I've inquired to other servants about you." He adds.
Your eyebrows knit and you slowly smile. "So you've been watching me." You state.
Peter looks away but not before you see his face go red. He clears his throat, running his hand through his sandy blond hair. "I was just curious as to who you are..." He says.
"Uh-huh." You say, grinning.
Peter clears his throat again and looks at you. "Would you like to go for a walk along the beach?" He asks, smiling.
"Let me just put these linens away, and then I'd love to." You answer.
"I'll help you." Peter says. You smile. "Okay." You reply.
---
You hike your skirts in your hand so they dangle around your calves. Peter and you walk along the shore as the sun starts its decent in the sky.
"It's so beautiful, isn't it?" Peter asks.
You sigh. "I love it. That's why I come out here every chance I get. I love the ocean. I love when the sun sets and everything bursts with light." You say.
Peter smiles handsomely at you. "That's such a beautiful way that you put it." He replies.
You beam. "Thank you." You say, smiling.
"So what do you like to do for fun?" He asks.
"Well, I don't get much free time. Usually if I have any, I walk the beach or read." You inform. You look at him, your eyebrows raised. "I would like to learn how to sword fight though."
"Really?" Peter asks in surprise.
You nod. "I think it'd be great fun." You explain.
"Well, if you really want to learn, I-I can teach you." He offers, looking to the ground shyly.
"Really?" You gasp in anticipation.
"Of course." He says quietly.
"Oh, my lord, thank you so much." You breathe.
Peter slowly looks at you, smiling. "You can just call me Peter, Y/N." He tells you.
You smile shyly. "Okay, Peter." You whisper.
---
For a month Peter and you spend every morning and night together practicing sword fighting while you work at the castle in between. He teaches you everything you need to know about sword fighting, and you've become close friends. You've fallen in love with Peter.
"Hey, hey, hey, sorry I'm late!" You say, breathless, after having ran to the armory.
Peter smiles widely when he sees you and pushes himself off the wall. "It's okay. Late shift?" He asks. You nod, trying to catch your breath.
He hands you your sword. "We can do one match tonight since it's getting pretty dark." Peter informs.
"Fine by me." You say, holding up your sword.
"I don't know much longer we're going to be doing this for, Y/N." He admits.
Your eyebrows draw. "Why not?" You ask as he draws his sword.
He grins. "You might best me and I'll never hear be end of it." He answers.
You laugh and shake your head. "I wouldn't dream of beating the best knight in all of Narnia. Least wise, the king." You say, winking. Peter laughs and raises his sword, his eyebrows perched high upon his forehead. He points the tip of his sword towards you.
"After you, m'lady." He says, smiling flirtatiously.
Peter and you sword fight for a while. Your arms are tired and it's become too dark to see Peter. You can only see his sword gleaming with moonlight.
"Ah!" You grunt, lifting your sword high to bring it down on his. Peter stands a few inches in front of you and blocks your strike. His and your arms are high above your head, both of your chest heaving together. You can feel his harsh breath on your face. You can only see his outline.
"Good-good job, Y/N." He comments breathlessly.
"Thank you." You breathe, smiling willowy. For a long moment Peter and you say nothing, but just stare at each other, your arms still raised. You swallow, your heart tripping over its beats. You want to tell Peter of your feelings for him.
You take a deep breath. "Peter, I—" You stare to say.
"Shhh.." He hushes gently, bring his hand down to put a finger on your lips. "I know." He whispers, before cupping your cheek. He leans his head down and kisses you deeply. You sigh and your eyes close.
Peter and you bring your arms down and drop your weapons. You wrap your arms around his neck and his hand entangles in your hair. He pulls you closer, deepening the kiss. A long minute later, you break the kiss, breathing hard. Your rest your forehead against his lips, smiling.
"I love you, Y/N." He whispers.
You slowly look up at him and caress his cheek. "I love you too, Peter." You say. He smiles and kisses you again.
[THE END] I hope you liked it!
