Par drove home speeding. He'd just seen one of the strongest people he knew drop in his hands to a weak state. It scared him more than anything else he'd ever seen. All he was worried about was if AJ was okay.
He felt like it was a scene from one of those books in that series... 50 Shades of Grey... A whole new shade.
While Par was deep in thought, AJ woke from her fainting spell.
"Par- Parson... Take... I want to see my mother. Please. Take me to see my mother."
Parson couldn't say no, because his mother was his bestfriend. Even in his worst state of mind, she meant the most to him. "Baby where does she live?"
"On the corner... The corner of Troy and Farragut. Take me to her please."
"I'll take you to see her, calm down."
They drove for a bit longer until they pulled on to the block. "The red house. Right there."
"Do you want me to wait out here for you while you go in?" Parson wasn't trying to meet her mother, not tonight. He wasn't sober and he wasn't sure how he'd introduce himself. Was she his girlfriend? Roommate? Friend?
"Yeah. Just wait here." She got out of the car and walked over to the house. A woman who looked almost identical to AJ walked out and almost broke down in tears, from what Par could see. She pulled her into a close embrace and then walked into the house.
Parson went into a deep thought after that. But it was quickly interrupted by a vibration and a light. AJ's phone... Who the hell was calling her right now? Parson picked it up. The name 'Diyo Logan' came across the screen. That named sounded too familiar, but maybe Par had sold to him, that's where he knew him from. Parson answered.
"Hello?"
"You answ- wait hello?"
"Yeah who this?"
"Uh this is... Diyo. Better question, since I made a phone call to Amari. Who's this?"
Parson took time to think. He had remembered over the dinner that they had when they first met that she'd mention AJ stood for something long. Amari... Amari something or the other.
"This is Par, now what would you like from AJ?" This kid had music in the background, and Par wasn't trying to hear all of that for too much longer.
"Listen, tell her Diyo's looking for her... And that... I love her. She means a lot to me, make sure she knows that."
"You know what? I won't tell her that. Because i'm sure that you were about damn sure amazed you didn't get a voicemail when I answered this phone. People like you? Need to leave her alone. She was running away from people like YOU. Now i'm starting to get it. Leave. Her. Alone. Nobody hurts Parson's girl." And with that he hung up and put her phone back in the seat.
Right then, he'd got a text from Ty.
Big brother how she doing? Is she okay? How are YOU? You know I love you right? I promise you if you need me I'll be there, for anything. Call me when you get the chance.
Ty was drugged up, so she was rambling. He wasn't even trying to understand what she was talking about. She knew how to party, that girl. Parson sat back to think once again. He thought about how much he loved his bestfriend. She meant the world to him, and the simple fact that he cared about her for almost all his life knowing her proved it.
AJ came, knocking on the window. Parson looked at the clock. It had been 45 minutes since she left. He guessed she was done. He unlocked doors for her to hop in. "Baby how'd it go?"
"I really needed to just talk to her. I really really just needed to talk to her."
Girl talk- got it. "Baby are you ready to go home?"
"You keep calling me baby, it's cute. Yeah let's go."
Parson could tell that AJ had been more than tired when they reached Harlem. Shoes slipped off, pants came off and her shirt rolled off her skin smoothly. She sunk into his sheets, like that's just where she belonged... To think it's only been a couple days knowing this girl, Parson just watched her in amazement. How'd she manage to make him feel like this so fast? She said, in a tiresome voice, "Come kiss me goodnight so I can sleep better... BABY." She giggled.
He kissed her.
"Goodnight baby girl." Parson thought real hard on something... He'd never let no girl lay in his sheets, yet he was tucking her in!
That's my baby laying in that bed... And I just only met her. How do I feel like this so fast? I just called her my baby and I barely even know her. But I love what I know... And I want to know more. I don't want nothing to take this chance away from me because it might be something good.
He kissed her forehead. "Yeah.." He stroked her hair back. "Goodnight baby girl."
The next morning? Par woke up not even remembering falling asleep on the couch. He rose up, smelling food cooking... What was this girl up to?
"Baby what're you doing?"
"I'm making you something simple. Eggs, an omelette... I want to talk to you after you eat your breakfast.. Okay?"
Parson finished off his omelette, and leaned over to kiss AJ. "Baby that was GOOD, super chow. Now what you wanna talk about girl?"
"Parson, I've only known you for 3 going on 4 long days... And you've been there for me more than anyone I have ever known my whole life. I'm gonna pay you back, I promise. I PROMISE."
"Shush girl. Shushhhhhh. You? Don't owe me a dime. And i'm not letting you work... No girl of Parson's is working for nobody. I got 3 million in the bank, more money in my safe... My money is yours. I barely know you and I want to give you the world... You don't have to work for nothing. Come here." She came to sit on his lap. "Your past is your past. And i'm your present and future. How about that?" He kissed her.
"I love you already Parson."
"Go get in the shower and get dressed beautiful. I'm going to take you to buy some things. Okay?"
If they were going to be living together, Parson wanted to know her style... So they hopped in the car and soon pulled to IKEA in the Bronx.
"Listen.. I've got a proposition for you. My apart- OUR apartment is a bachelor pad. And if we're living together, where we live has got to reflect us both. Because we BOTH gots to be comfortable. So I have another apartment on 110th, next to my moms building. Nice, big, spacious... And EMPTY. I've already planned for this... I had an account open in your name and wired $150,000 into your account for now. Make our new place look nice? THAT'S your job."
"Wait wait Parson... $150,000?... A new apartment?... What do you- Parson what do you DO? Be real with me."
"I give people what they want... What they ask for."
"Oh..."
"Now come on baby. Let's make this apartment ours."
