Chapter 1
Jake's POV
She walked down the hall, carrying four books in her hand, probably going to the same place I am. The History classroom. I recognized her, she is the one who cannot speak. I just forgot her name.
Unlike her, I only carried with me a book and my pen. I saw her adjust the stack of books buried between her arms and chest. I smirk at the thought of her tripping from the weight.
God answered my 'prayer'. She did fall down. Unfortunately, I fell on her.
Well that's embarrassing.
She turned around to face me as a crowd started to form around us. I saw her bite her lip, deciding if she should get up first.
Being the gentleman I am, I stood up and offered her my hand. But before doing so, I wipe my hands on my jeans.
She took my hand and pulled up. I almost stumbled. Well, I didn't see that coming.
"Uhh... So-sorry. I-I'll be on my way then...."
Why was I stuttering?
The girl glared at me. I look away in return. I felt heat rush up my cheeks as I picked up my book from the floor.
Am I actually blushing?
One, you are stuttering because she is pretty. Real pretty. And two, yes, you are blushing.
What was that? Oh, never mind.
It is 5 minutes before the bell and everyone started to head to their own respective classrooms. While I went to History. I sighed as I took my seat.
One hour of torture and boring hell.
But, History is my favourite subject. But for only one reason. This is the only subject I'm good at.
I tried to focus on my teacher explaining everything that we have learned so far, but I couldn't. All I could do was stare at her.
Lucky for me, I sit right behind her.

An hour seemed like a century and finally, the bell rang. It's time for lunch.
I was about to go to the cafeteria when Ms. J, our teacher, called me. Did I do something wrong? I'm pretty sure I got an A+ in the latest test.
Surprisingly she also called her, Ariana. I, now, know her name. I made a mental note and started to listen to what our teacher was saying.
"-failing all her tests. I need you to help her by tutoring her, Jake. Ok?"
So I just need to tutor her? I'm up for the challenge. I nodded, "Sure, Ms. J."
"Thank you, Jake."
I stepped out of the classroom and headed to the cafeteria, itching to tell Mark the news.
I sat on my seat as Mark sat beside me. I took a big bite out of my burger and grabbed a fry. Mark did the same, except he grabbed two fries.
"You up for bowling tomorrow?" Mark asked. I shook my head and he gave me a confused look.
"I was about to tell you. I need to tutor Ariana. You know..." I pointed to my ears. Hopefully he gets it. His mouth formed an O shape and he smiled. I knew he wouldn't object. Mark's a nice person. He likes to help people.
"Thanks, dude," I finished up my burger. "See you, I need to tell her." He waved me goodbye and I walked towards her table where she sat alone.
I stopped in my tracks a few feet away from her. Grabbing a random piece of paper and a pen, I wrote.
