Midnight Beauties

Chapter 8

"Oh, Mia? You're going to ride the bike too?" Nate says, smirking at her. 

"Oh..did I say that? Um.." Mia says, her face turning red.

"That's alright Mia. I'll drive. You can sit behind me." Nate suggested. 

"Oh um..ok." Mia says.

"Aww is Ms. Smarty afraid to ride the bike?" Ryder says, teasing her. Mia gave Ryder a glare, she suddenly felt a burst of confidence. She went to Nate's bike before Nate could even reach it. Nate looked at her, stunned.

"Mia?" Nate asks as Mia was already hopping on the bike and holding on to the hand grips. "Nate hop on." Mia says confidently. Nate just looked at her as if she was an alien.

 "Umm are you okay?" He asks.

"Just hop on!" Mia says making Nate do as she says. 

"Alright, let's see what you can do smarty." Ryder says.

Mia looked at the hand grip in front of her. 

"Alright, Mia. You've seen how they worked in movies. You can do this." Mia whispered to herself.

"Mia?" Nate asks, overhearing her whisper. 

"You sure you can?" Nate asks. 

"Huh? Y-yes. I can do this. I mean...it's not that hard right?" Mia says worriedly. Nate gave her a glare.

"Ugh no. I can't. I'm going to die. What was I thinking? I just wanted to stop Ryder from teasing me. I want to show him that I'm more than just a smarty yanno?" Mia says. Nate gave her a smirk.

 "Mia. Your smartness is what makes you beautiful and special. Unlike someone I know." Nate says, showing that he means Ryder. Mia giggles and blushes. 

"Thanks Nate."

He then puts his hands over Mia's which was resting on the hand grip. "I'll help you." Mia smiles at him. But she still couldn't stop worrying.

"Let's race. Come on Lucile." Ryder says. Lucile walked to Ryder's bike and grabbed the hand grip. "Um..what are you doing?" Ryder asks.

"What else am I doing?" Lucile says. "It's my turn." Ryder says.

"Hey, you get to use this bike everyday." Lucile says. "Finee." Ryder groans.

"Ready, Go!" Ryder says. The two bikes zoomed around the school parking lot. "Isn't this illegal?!" Mia shouts to Nate. "Relax. We won't get caught." Nate says.

"Hey Ainsley. Do u have a ride home?" Gwen asks Ainsley as they were walking through the school hallway. "Umm...no. I don't think so." Ainsley says. "Oh. Where do you live?"

"Umm...Oakland? I think." Ainsley says. Gwen giggles. "Oak Park Avenue?"

"Umm yeah." Ainsley says.

"Woohoo! Ainsley! Hi! Look at me!" Mia shouts riding the bike passing Ainsley. "Mia?" Ainsley says. Mia stops the bike in front of her and her and Nate gets off the bike. "Ainsley! You have got to try this thing!" Mia says excitedly.

Nate chuckles at her. "Wow a lot can change for someone who just learned how to ride a bike."

Mia giggles too. Ainsley giggles at both of them. But soon she heard another bike coming towards them, and notice Lucile riding the bike along with...Ryder.

"Umm..I'll meet you guys later ok? I'm going to go home." Lucile says starting to look back at Gwen. "Wait Ainsley! Aren't you going home with us?" Mia asks.
