Chapter Four: N.E.W.T Classes
Sleep still avoided me, even in the safety of my dorm.
The water ran over my face as tears ran down my face, I might not dream anymore, but I could feel Rodolphus's arms around me so tight I couldn't move and her laugh in my ear. No potion or spell could erase that.
"Celyn!" Hadleigh banged on the door," We are leaving in ten."
Turning the water off, the soft towel was comforting against my skin as I changed into my white shirt, black skirt that ended mid-tight and tights. I opened the door and Hadleigh stood with her bag on her shoulder and a small smile. She used a hair-drying spell as I tied my tie loosely around my neck, tucking it into my sweater vest and slipped my feet into a pair of heeled patient boots.
I kissed Drizella's head, trying not to wake her. My canine companion had been up half the night with me, it would be unfair to wake her.
Downstairs, the common room was full of busing students ready for the start of term. First years bounced around the common room, watching the stars on the ceiling and the blue flames crackle. The seventh-year students stood in front of the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw taking photos in front of a floating camera.
Near the door, Isabelle and Anthony waited for us with large smiles.
"Ready?" Anthony asked
I nodded," Sure."
"Good," He cheered, pulling me into a side hug.
The halls felt so alive as we walked to breakfast, no one walked separately from their friends and Weasley products flew around the air like they owned it. Lower years ran past us, pushing past to get to the Great Hall before the food ran out.
The Great Hall was no different, spells were flying around as people practised magic.
At the Ravenclaw table, I sat next to Hadleigh, pouring myself a cup of coffee and loading three pancakes onto my plate. Winter berries piled high on top, and I smiled proudly at my sweet concoction.
"Miss Longbottom." Professor Flitwick called.
With a mouthful of pancakes, I raised my hand altering him to where I was.
My head of house smiled proudly as he passed me the timetable," Oh and this is for you."
The Professor gave me a small envelope with my St. Mungo's address written on the front.
"What is this?" I asked, swallowing my food first.
Professor Flitwick smiled," You earn them, Miss Longbottom. I'll see you in Charms."
"I don't have any books," I confessed.
The Professor smiled understandingly," Your professors have been given your copies so you can collect them at the start."
"Thank you," I said smiling as the professor continued handing out timetables.
I whipped my hands on a napkin, opening the letter a blue shield pin fell out onto the table. For a second, I believed it could be my Prefects badge back but it was something much better.
"Shit!" Hadleigh said picking one up,
"Atta Girl." Uriah's voice echoed from the top of the table.
In my hands, I turned over the other pin. In bronze writing 'Captain' was written across the middle.
Uriah clapped with Cho from the top of the table, looking proudly at me.
"You gave it up?" I asked, my thumb running over the word.
Uriah smiled, "No, I need a co-captain to take on the heavy tasks when I can't be bothered."
Anthony cheered," Yes to Uriah being a lazy shit."
Smiling I looked over at him," Thank you."
He shrugged," I need my best chaser in the game! We have last year to make up for."
"Yeah, we do!" I agreed, throwing a grape at him," That is for not telling me."
Uriah looked at me in fake hurt," Love you too Celce."
My face pulled up at the new nickname, but all Uriah did was blow me a kiss from his seat and continue with his breakfast.
Pinning the badge onto the strap of my bag, I unravelled my timetable and laid it flat on the table.Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Eating my pancakes with one hand, I scanned over what my year was looking like. Many of my classes crossed with Slytherins and Hufflepuff, the only cross I had with Gryffindor was potions because the class size was so small.
Hadleigh blew a low whistle," We only share Potions!"
"I have Herbology with you and Anthony," Isabelle smiled," I dropped potions thinking Snape was teaching it."
"Jokes on you then," Michael smirked," You still have defence with him.
Isabelle let out a deep sigh," Tell me about it, it's my first class too."
"Let us know what that's like." Hadleigh smiled proudly.
Isabelle shot us a death glare as she raised her cup to her face, Anthony lapped her on the back as he laughed at her misfortune.
"I have to go," Hadleigh said, checking her watch," I have Transfiguration."
My head shot up at the time," I have charms so I'll walk with you."
