CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: Not sure who to trust

"Every great wizard in history has started as nothing more than what we are now: students. If they can do it, why not us?"

Harry was filling into his teacher role like it was second nature, since being banned from the Quidditch team and practices he's been filling his time with creating personal improvement plans.
The twins haven't been as educationally motivated, instead, they have been excelling in their small business but trying out new skiving snack box edibles on Filch who sat outside the main doors every evening since the Quidditch game two weeks ago.
Last week the twins purposely got a box of bonbons confiscated by the caretaker around lunchtime before the meeting, hours later Filch was in the care of Madam Pomfrey with a bad case of chickenpox.

Standing in front of Hadleigh in a duelling pose, the two of us had gained a small crowd of D.A members as we built the tension up around us.
"Ready?" Hadleigh questioned.
I scoffed," Yes, I have to get a slither of revenge from your bloody comment after class!"
"Oh please, I said it was good you are taking more perspectives of multiple events from different people." She shrugged.
I stared at her open-mouthed," That's not what you said at all."
"Oh," She shrugged, "It's what I meant to say – "
"Expelliarmus!" I shouted sending the spell in a spiral in her direction.
Hadleigh blocked the spell her hair blowing back from the force," Ok, maybe I was a little abrupt, but she said it!"
"Since when did anyone listen to her!" I spoke back, "She doesn't work here anymore!"
"Good point," Hadleigh justified," Stuplify!"
In a quick movement, I drew an X with my wand and pushed the spell back on her, rolling out the way she held her hands up.
"I'm just saying, that after what happened you need to be careful, "Hadleigh spoke.
"Confringo!" I shouted," Haddie, I know you are worried but I can't keep being scared, it's driving me insane and paranoia set in –"
"Locomotor Mortis." My friend shouted back.
Jumping high about the spell I glared at her," Really?"
She shrugged," It's the first one I could think of."
"Rictusempra!" I shot the spell sending my friend into a fit of giggles.
Hadleigh had a large smile on her face but that wasn't how she was feeling," But she's been right before, with Black, she'll be right now. Can you trust him?"
"because I want to." I sighed, releasing the spell, and helping her off the ground," But it might not be him."
Harry clapped his hands," That was good, amazing use of returning spells and using the space to dodge rather than just using magic."
Giving a tight smile with a wordless thanks the crowd dismantled as people went back to their tasks of improvement.

Pulling me to the side, Hadleigh and I leaned on one of the large columns in the room.
Hadleigh looked at me in the eyes," Who else knows?"
"Most of the Order who was in that meeting the night Harry was picked up." I groaned, running a hand down my face," I'm sorry I got you into this Hads."
"I'm not." She spoke truthfully," Now I'm scared for you. In this, you are our true advantage and I know that pressure is eating you alive and that's why you are talking to the Snake about it. But someone rats on us and we have to know who."
"It won't be him, I know that." I confessed, sadness filling my chest a little," We know too much about each other to rat out there is safety in knowledge like that. It will be from within the order."
Hadleigh groaned," That's a horribly large portion of adults."
"We can make the list shorter; we just need time." I sighed, resting my head on the cold marble

"How much time?" Hadleigh spoke, the sounds of spells hiding our convocation," We have no idea when what Trelawney said will go into effect."
"We could have years, in the third year she predicted about on a table of thirteen, the first to stand would die." I sighed," Not one of those thirteen on the head table has died yet so we could have years."
Hadleigh nodded," I fucking hope so."
"Sorry about the duel." I turned to my friend.
She shrugged," I fuelled it, and I think we both had a lot of anger concerning this current predicament."
Slapping our hands together twice then taking hold of each other's hands pulling them down in an unspoken truce, we rolled off the pillar and re-joined the rest of the D.A.
