*WARNING: POSSIBLY TRIGGERING.*

Muffin sat at the library bench looking bored as hell. She'd been there for fifteen minutes waiting for Cutie and, well, waiting and her ADHD don't exactly mix. Suddenly the main doors swung open and clashed loudly with the wall. Cutie burst through them and towards Muffin. "Sorry! Uh . . . Alarm clock! Missed it! I mean it didn't-" Cutie stopped realizing everyone's eyes were on her. She looked down embarrassed. At that moment Cutie's eyes fell to rest on Muffin. Cutie caught her breath. She couldn't help but to stare. Muffin sat in a short black dress, one Cutie had never seen before. Cutie knew Muffin didn't like dresses, so it stunned her that she was wearing one now. "Wow," Cutie whispered, blushing. Muffin looked up to see Cutie looking down at her. Muffin sighed and smiled reassuringly at Cutie to sit down. As Cutie sat Muffin grabbed her hand making her blush more.
"I, uh," Cutie sputtered. She let out a breath and smiled at Muffin, "You look beautiful. Why so dressed up?" Muffin blushed, pulling the longest strand of her bangs to cover her eyes. "Th-thanks, I just thought, you know," she shrugged "when in Rome." She giggled at the thought and noticed she was still holding Cutie's hand. She smiled and traced a heart with her thumb on the back of Cutie's hand. Muffin looked up into Cutie's beautiful blue eyes and smiled sweetly at her blush. Cutie smiled and bit her lip. "So what d-do your f-friends think about, uh . . . A-about us? You know? D-do they like me, or . . . I mean 'cause I'm a, um, I'm a Freshmen and y-you a-are a Junior and- " Cutie looked down watching their hands. "Never mind, it's not important," Cutie said forcing a smile, but not looking to Muffin. Muffin smiled and laughed lightly, "They all love you Cutie, and anyway what they think doesn't matter." Cutie looked up with a real smile on her face. Muffin sighed and bit her lip "So anyway, Cutie....," her voice drifted off nervously, "I was wondering a-about p-p-prom. I was wondering i-if you'd g-go, you know, with me?" She ended her question in barely a whisper as Cutie looked up surprised. She giggled as her hand flew up to hide her bright red cheeks. Cutie's hand fell from her face to her necklace. "I, uh... I m-mean, well u-um-" Cutie's gaze found Muffin. Her eyes were on the ground, and she was biting her bottom lip quite hard. "Muffin?" Muffin looked up surprised. Cutie smiled sweetly, "I am not wearing a dress. I hope you know that." Muffin pouted and sighed heavily, "Fine. I guess I will..." After a moment of silence and Cutie blushing and thinking of something to say, Muffin looked up and smirked. "Would you do it for a kiss?" Cutie turned a darker shade of red. "A, uh... I- um, k-kiss...? I..." Cutie stuttered, sitting wide eyed. She was incapable of actual speech. Muffin looked up and nodded. She leaned over the table until their noses were only inches apart. She smiled and closed the space between them. After drawing apart Cutie turned her head to see none other than Pretty Boy, Muffin's ex boyfriend. Cutie smirked at him, raised her eyebrows, and gave him a little wave. Cutie was pleased with the stunned look on his face. This was the jerk who broke Muffin's heart, and now he was realizing that she's over him. "Check Pretty Boy, out," Cutie said scrunching her nose and turning back to Muffin. Muffin blushed and swallowed nervously, trying to focus on Cutie but kept stealing glances at Pretty Boy. "H-hi," she stammered. Cutie looked up slightly confused and noticed Pretty Boy was standing at the end of the table. Cutie gave him the death stare. "Can I help you?" She snapped. Pretty Boy furrowed his eyebrows and raised one, "Um...", he said slightly confused. Muffin squeaked trying not to cry, she looked at Cutie with a pained expression biting her lip. Cutie turned her head to Muffin and her expression softened as she slid closer to Muffin, enveloping her into a hug. Pretty Boy cocked his head to the side, "Something wrong, Muffin?" Muffin squeaked again, "N-no..." A single tear escaped her eye as she became increasingly more angry and anxious. "Can you leave?" Cutie said angrily. "Please." Pretty Boy stood for a moment unsure whether to take this from a Freshmen or to stand his ground. "You okay?" Cutie whispered to Muffin. When she didn't reply Cutie followed her gaze to Pretty Boy who hadn't moved. A raged bubbled in Cutie. "I said go!" Cutie growled standing. "Now. I'm being nice for Muffin's sake, but so help me God if you don't go-" Muffin whimpered as her mind flooded with memories. Cutie stopped talking and pressed her cheek to Muffin's head. She looked up at Pretty Boy and glared her darkest glare, which only made Pretty Boy crack a smirk. He shrugged "Fine, I'll leave, just know you're both going to hell." He turned on his heel and walked away before Cutie could say anything. Muffin started sobbing as her chest began to burn, her eyes pinched tightly shut. "C-Cutie?" she whimpered. Cutie hid her fear in her voice as best she could "Yes, sunshine?" Muffin took a minute before speaking, "Can we go outside?" Cutie looked to Muffin and saw what pain she was in. Her heart began to pound loudly in her ears. "Yeah Muffin," Cutie said helping her up. "Go on, I'll be out there in a minute." Muffin hesitated. "D-don't do anything stupid, okay?" Muffin pleaded. All Cutie could do was stare. "I'll be out there in a minute," Cutie repeated. Reluctantly Muffin went outside. Once she was out of sight Cutie walked up behind Pretty Boy and tapped him on the shoulder. Without warning, Cutie punched him in the face as he was turning around, knocking him to the ground. "Well that was fun," Cutie mumbled to herself triumphantly. Cutie turned ignoring the stares she was getting and focusing on the door. As she walked outside, shaking her now sore hand, she smiled to Muffin, and sat beside her, leaning their backs against the library. Muffin sat in completed silence almost not recognising that Cutie had sat down next to her. Her mind was elsewhere, in the days of darkness without her mom and a depressed father and scared younger siblings, in the days Pretty Boy wasn't just another person to leave her. She twisted the hem of her shirt as her hands shook uncontrollably. Tears trickled silently down her cheeks as she forgot where she was and began to subconsciously dig her nails into her shins ignoring Cutie's pleas. Muffin sighed as she became slightly more aware, "I'm sorry," she breathed. Cutie grabbed Muffin's hands. "Listen to me. You have nothing to apologize for. He's a jerk. He's worthless. You are amazing. I love you, Muffin," Cutie was fighting back tears of her own. "I love you so much" Cutie started to pull Muffin into a hug, but then paused, looking to Muffin for permission. Muffin collapsed into her arms, breathing shallowly, trying to bury herself into Cutie's embrace, trying to disappear. She snaked her arms around her waist and slowly relaxed as a way of saying I love you too without really saying anything...
